Lots of football players have appeared in Watfords colours but who are the worst? My knowledge is not great and I do not know many of the players from may years ago but from the comments I have seen here and on 606 I can get an idea of who was very poor. I will start the list with Gary Plumley - who should never have been allowed to play Cristian Damian Battocchio â one game and a huge defeat Moses Ashikodi David Connolly â for his attitude not his goalscoring Kerry Dixon Trevor Senior Paul Atkinson Perhaps I could add Nathan Ellington but I think if the conditions of the purchase contract were better for Watford and they had paid less he might have played more matches and done better. who would you add?
I think thats a bit unfair AK, he played less than 10mins so can hardly be at fault for the defeat. Yeates had a much worse game and barely saw the ball or got over the halfway line.
well i argue that Yeates worse. He is lazy, often misplaces passes, cannot take a set piece and offers little to the team. I think we have seen more from the team since he has been out of it than with him in it.
Patrick Blondeau has to be without doubt the worst player for me. At least Albert McLennaghan had comedy value. Micky Quinn was long past his sell by date when we had him... he was in shape - round... it's a shape. As for Trevor Senior, poor bugger was in the wrong team at the wrong time. Basset brought him then sold the two players (Digger and Cally) who would have played him the right ball- in from the wings for him to run on to - and instead had a team hoofing the ball over his head expecting him to out pace defenders or hold up play. Rubbish for us, his record speaks for itself but that was not entirely his fault, nor anywhere near. Saw him score enough goals at Reading to know the difference. Jamie Moralee, anyone?
Although I didn't see him play, based on the fact that he was GTs only loan signing, I'll say Bobby(?) Svarc. If he joined us on loan when we were in the 4th division, only played a couple of games and then GT didn't want to use the loan system again he must have been poor.
Micky Quinn & Kerry Dixon were both well past it and made you wonder if they ever had it. They say that class is perminant but my word you'd be hard pushed to tell with those two. I remember a game whare the biggest chear of the night was Micky Quinn jumping to head the ball! You have to put Devon White in the mix too, but the worst team is then a bit top heavy on so called strikers. Anyone remember the overhead kick in the match against Leicester, the year we got relegated under Glenn Roeder? Jamie Moralee may have been ultimately useless but he didn't half put some miles in on the pitch. He made a valiant effort to run round like a headless chicken and initially the watford fans appreciated this never say die attitude, but the longer it went on without bearing fruit they started to get on his back.

A bit unfair Barry - he only played the once for us and lasted about 15 minutes before sustaining a career-ending injury. I suspect that the definitive list of crap players within living memory will be inside ofh's head as he pre-dates most of us and can remember the dim, dark days of the 50's in Division 4. There were certainly a few around in the 60's - goalkeepers such as Frank George and John Cowan, full back Sandy Pate, goal scorers extraordinaire Jimmy Lawton and Terry Melling all spring to mind immediately & I'm sure I can dredge up more.
Doug Allder springs to mind. I must be one of the few people who saw him play for us. It was an away game against Rochdale. He only played the first half, running up and down the wing, before being substituted. I think he touched the ball twice. I've seen players from the bench warming up have more involvement in a game.
Division 3 South actually BB. The trouble is that there are many players who arrived at the start of a season and were released at the end of it. As a 7/8 year old you only remember the players who were good enough to move into the hero class and it needs something to jog the memory to recall some of them.
Ramon Vega with the combination of sky high wages, arrogant attitude and all the defensive qualities of a stick.
