If the bloke was a sick pervert (which it now looks like he was) then that's what he deserves to be remembered as. Why shouldn't there be as much publicity to expose a child molester who courted publicity all of his adult life? Like most people I'm glad I was never abused, but unless you have personal experience you're in no position to judge other people's motivation. I would imagine that even decades later it would be a huge emotional trauma for a victim to come forward and accuse a famous celebrity who knows how to manipulate the press and media. It's also unlikely that 90% of the (40!!) people who have so far accused him of abuse could expect to make any money from it.
