I read some stuff from Paul Gambaccini and Esta Rantzen in the press this week. If they knew about it why didn't they say anything before his death. I mean he's not been at the BBC for a long time prior to his death, so there was plenty of time to say something.
In the programme Rantzen said that she didn't know, but was convinced having seen the video testimony. What she said in the programme was that there was always rumours that JS liked young girls. Did she say something else in the press?
Rantzen was obviously upset, she said they should all have been more concerned about looking into the rumours, rather than just going along with the general perception that he was just a bit eccentric.
He did, that's the point. The press previously pulled stories with exactly these allegations after Saville threatened to end all fundraising totalling tens of millions a year for his benefactory hospital.

Guilty or Innocent i careless now. The man has gone and its just a witch hunt for money from his estate. IMO. If all those women are correct in what they are now saying then why have they left it so fooking late and when the man has gone to speak out ? IN those days if you reached a certain level Im sure you did believe you were untouchable.. Bill wyman used to take 13 yearold mandy smith to show biz parties and nobody said anything, she said she slept with him at 14....whats happened about that? all the celebs knew it and did nowt..there's been johnathan king , barrymore ..etc..etc.. all this is a tip of a very big and very sordid iceberg...
For me, Saville's not the issue. What is at issue is the institution that is the BBC allowing this and other abuses to go unchallenged for decades, creating a culture where people felt unable to make the allegations as they'd be fighting a system where their word would be just a puff of wind. Not having records, or even not knowing are not really excuses. These allegations and rumours aren't new. They've been made for decades and the last ones to blame are the victims.
Agreed. Of deeper concern is that the people with these morals are the same ones that set the BBC editorial policy and therefore influence a nation.
So the simple matter of it all is a simple one. If you leave it this long to speak out you deserve nowt back. What happened to the 25 year statute of limitations ? That has more than run out.

Yes, that's exactly what's bollocks. For a start, some of them did, for another thing, they weren't women years ago, they were children in an environment that tolerated the abuse. Speaking out wasn't an awful lot of use. You seem ever so defensive of the ***** position.
Agreed. Not sure on what IS and what is NOT covered byt it in all truth. What i am saying is that IF these women are correct in what they are saying then why leave it all this time ? Sorry but they should have ALL come out with it at the time. The story of the 3 girls in Savilles dressing room after a Jim'll fix it with Gary Glitter and another ?? beggars belief. For a start what where the parents doing at that time ?
