QPR manager Mark Hughes: Thereâs a real belief in what weâre doing QPR manager Mark Hughes insists there is still a "real belief" among his squad despite extending their winless run to six games ShareCommentsBy Kieran Beckles 11:43am UK, Friday 5 October 2012 Mark Hughes made 11 signings for QPR over the summerPhoto: The Sport Review Mark Hughes insists there is a âreal beliefâ among his Queens Park Rangers squad despite extending their winless streak to six games in the Premier League. The Hoops suffered a 2-1 loss to West Ham United on Monday, leaving Hughesâ side in 20th place ahead of a daunting trip to high-flying West Bromwich Albion this weekend. Despite disappointing results, the QPR manager has been encouraged by his sideâs recent performances and the Welshman is confident their first victory of the season is imminent. âAt the moment weâre finding it difficult to get results in line with our performances. We havenât picked up as many points as weâd have hoped,â said Hughes. âBut thereâs real belief in what weâre doing. Once we get more games under our belts, weâll be fine.â José Bosingwa, Anton Ferdinand, Armand Traoré and Fábio were all absent for QPRâs defeat by the Hammers, with Hughes forced to field four centre-halves. The 48-year-old admitted the Hoopsâ injury problems have restricted his plans this season, but Hughes is confident the results will improve once QPR have a settled defence. âInjuries have meant that I havenât been able to select the side that I want,â he added. âWeâve been encouraged by what weâve produced in a number of games and we know weâre capable of winning Premier League matches. âWe all understand that weâre judged on results â but we knew it was a difficult start to the season given the fixtures we had. The opening day [defeat against Swansea] put us on the back foot.â Hughes added: âIf you look at the teams that do well and have a good start to the season, they have settled sides and defences. We havenât had that â but itâll come.â
I'm fed up with sound bites and lame promises made via the LR propaganda machine Energy needs to be spent on the training pitch and during matches, not on giving pointless interviews! We simply cannot keep banging on about injuries / bad luck etc. The first half against West Ham was crap and we showed little invention / commitment - that's why we went in 2-0 down at half-time I want to see the team committed and pressing WBA from the off tomorrow, and not mentally still in the dressing room until half-time
