I used to be a powerhouse of a centre-half, though got stuck on the wing :)confused: - seriously? A lumbering CB on the wing?) for a few games.

Usually sock, but for a bet I had it in my underwear for a match. It got a good wash after that. It's quite a poorly constructed home made one though. I forgot to put it one last time I scored. Only realised 20 minutes after I scored:emoticon-0120-doh:

Phew, think I'd wear a chain around my neck with a small bag to keep it in.

Started out as a RB, moved into CM then upfront as a Heskey style striker, absolutely ****e but hard working and always creating chances for the other, small nippy striker - that was for Bishop Auckland St Mary's and St John's Comp...I used to play footy, rugby, basketball, athletics and swimming for the school (as well as kickboxing for a while) so was always one of the fittest lads on the pitch.

Didn't play for a year or 2, between 17 and 19 then went to Uni and went in as a CDM partly because I have no sense and will get stuck into anyone...Highest achievement was getting MOTM in the final All Ireland Uni Shield, was told to mark some boy who was on FIFA at the time (for Bohemians) and snapped him at least 5 times (mostly fair challenges) blocked and cleared 2 of his shots off the line - Was gutted when they won!

Must add...Now can't even have a kick about, torn cartilage in both of my knee's in the space of a year (both times playing football) and need operations to set 'em right...Had the choice this summer to get em done or to go to Africa...Knee's can wait!

Play in goal Sunday League - I'm pretty good (won all 4 end of season awards last season). But I always prefer playing outfield, problem is I'm ****e. I've got good tekkers, but I'm a bit like Guthrie in that I seem lost and I'm a bit of a sissy.

But put me on a 5-a-side pitch and I become Messi *cough* Gutierrez *cough* (no tackling y'see)...

Oh yeah, used to play rugby (league) for South Yorkshire as well. Complete opposite to how I am as a footballer; loved tackling but hated having the ball

Never been in a team, I'm too crap. Mainly lazy, actually, haha. Well, average at best (on form..if I'm lucky... on a good day) Never played it often enough to actually be able to get into playing it a lot, other than at school and that was rather irregular.

Shame really, I'd have loved to have gotten involved in something. Me and my house mate always say we're gonna play more at uni but as of yet that's not happened!

Badminton was always the sport for me!! ....

Ah Badminton ... that was my racket sport of choice. Played at local league level for a few years but was never that good. Although to be fair the standard was very high. A lady I partnered for a while in mixed doubles was UK no 1 for many years. Even seven months pregnant she completely carried me in one game, reaching shots that should have been mine and which I couldn't get to. Love that sport!

The works used to hire a hall for badminton and I had a few knockabouts with the regs but it didn't really appeal to me, preferred football and cricket.

    Another goalkeeper, nice ;)

I'm pretty decent (if a little inconsistent), won a few man of the matches in my time, just have to find a new team as I've just recently moved house.

Haha, she sounds rather competitive if she was still playing at 7 months pregnant!
I only played like 3 or so times a week for 3 or 4 years when I was still in school. Got offered, along with 3 other mates, to represent the school at it in competitions and stuff but turned it down. God knows why, couldn't be bothered I suppose haha. I was more into playing music to be honest.

I'm quite light so can get around the court easier and quicker, whereas in football I'd be knocked off the ball too easy, is the reason it appealed to me more.
Used to play cricket in the summer at the park with my mates too.
Basketball was a good one too.

The problem with badminton is that almost anybody can play it badly. I.e. just stand one side of the net gently patting it back and forward to somebody on the other side. But that is not much fun. However, when you start to play at a higher standard and at speed, against an evenly matched and skillful opponent it is a completely different game altogether. Lightning fast, extremely aerobic and a real game of skill. Playing a high speed full tilt rally of 20 shots or so is almost as good as sex or scoring a goal. Almost!
