I like Rosberg, I think he will give Lewis a run for his money just like Jenson did.

Coming out of retirement did nothing to hurt his legend. He's still a 7 times WDC and that's a record that is likely to stand for decades.

I don't blame him for coming back at all. He loves the sport and wanted to race... fair play to him for that. So despite his lack if success since his return I'll be sorry to see him go and the grid will be one champion lighter in 2013. :(

    I think it's a pity he's going.
I'm not ashamed to say I was enjoying a little redress from kick-back karma.

Most good stories have their villain; but in this respect, Schumacher surely is irreplaceable.
Will Maldonado fit the mould? – Well, in the long-term, I very much doubt it…

I think we'll have to make do with a rotating cast.

Mercedes should have told Michael a few months ago that Plan A was Hamilton and Plan B was Perez - that would have given Schumacher the time to announce his retirement. With Mercedes announcing his replacement first, the retirement feels forced.

A true legend, he will be missed.

Hopefully we can have one day without some Schumacher hate

Its sad to see him go. Seeing as how i started watching F1 after his first retirement i'm just glad i got to watch him at all. His has done nothing to his legacy for me. 2011 & 2012 showed that even in his 40s he's a top driver, at his peak... quite possibly the best of all time.

    I'll miss him next year.

Michael has handled himself superbly during his comeback despite the results, a lot of drivers can learn from that. Mercedes have got better and better each year and started this season very strong. So a great job from Michael for developing this team from 2010. He obviously had fun and has shown that he can still compete so he can have no regrets for his comeback.

Not Schumi's biggest fan. Never have been and never will be but I still would have liked to have seen him in a Ferrari for one more season.

I did enjoy this tweet though:

    Adam Cooper ‏@adamcooperf1
Let's wait and see if Lewis Hamilton can get a Monaco pole in 2028! Or Sebastian Vettel in 2030. Or Segio Perez in 2033...

I'd quite like to see him in DTM next season, or even BTCC <laugh>

Legend of the sport regardless of what you think of him.

I want him to win before he goes, but even if he doesn't.. maybe pairing up with Ralf in DTM and winning there might be good.

    Some nice words from Lewis.

I'm glad he's gone, at least he can't lumber around ruining peoples races now. He should never have come back, he's ruined his reputation IMO. Now time to get rid of De la Rosa and Webber, and the pensioners will finally be gone.

You mean you've written Webber off already?

I'm of the opinion that there are two many youngsters in F1 these days and there is nothing wrong with having a good crop of wiser, "senior" drivers.
