I know he's not one of ours anymore, but well done to the lad for making the squad!

Just saw this, some blogs aroudn the web are thinking did we make a mistake letting him go?

For me , the answer is no. Because he would still have been stuck behind Krul as the no. 2, and he didn't want that.

No 2? More like number 4, he's ****e at this level.

He ****s up constantly for Celtic. Have you seen him recently? Lmao.

Elliot is a far better prospect, and I'd rather have Harper in net.

Couldn't agree more, we have our own international keeper! I know it's unlikely Joe Hart will be overtaken as England's No. 1, but imagine if both of our one time 3rd and 4th choice keepers were full starting internationals.

No I haven't seen him recently. I am looking at the Spartak Moscow vs Celtic game highlights now and to me Gary Hooper is more impressive than Forster. That guy deserves a chance more than Forster imo. Not sure why the England goalkeeping coach went to scout Forster , and they still called him up.

What a load of horseshit. he has been doing very well up in Scotland. He made a mistake the other night saving a ball he shouldn't have but generally he has done very well for them. I know this because I know a season ticket holder up there and I take in a fair few of their games myself. He had a bit of a rocky start but has done really well last season and this.

To suggest Elliot is a better prospect based on what we've seen is nothing short of laughable. I like Elliot now he has lost the chubb but he still has plenty to prove. I like Harps too but Forster is ahead of him and would have been at Newcastle. Without a shadow of a doubt he'd have been Number 2 because he'd have been the 2nd best keeper we had. However all respect to him for moving on to help his career. It seems he has made the right decision, and fully deserves his call up.

He still has plenty to learn but he is looking like an excellent young keeper. They tend to only get better with age. He just ran into a future superstar in Krul. Saying that Krul has plenty to learn. His distribution is shocking at this level. He too has made a couple mistakes early this season. But that is just the roll of the dice when you go with a younger keeper.

Take it you're judging him off that 1 game V Spartak? Watch a lot of Celtic as they're my second team and he has improved a lot since first going up there 2 years ago and is a good keeper. Comfortably better than Harper and Elliot.

Liked Forster and Alnwick when I first saw them and thought we had two winners on our hands. They were just unlucky that we had Harps between the sticks or they'd have been getting regular games for us.

I'd like to see them both do well.

Sorry, for me he is not International class and Hodgson really is scrapping the barrel. For such a big lad he doesn't command his box well and must be playing in the worst league in Europe.

<laugh> Why does this myth keep being repeated? It may not be as good as the PL but it is plenty better than many. See below for a list of European leagues:

    Albania Andorra ·Armenia · Austria · Azerbaijan · Belarus · Belgium · Bosnia and Herzegovina · Bulgaria · Croatia · Cyprus · Czech Republic · Denmark ·England · Estonia · Faroe Islands Finland · France · Georgia · Germany · Greece ·Hungary · Iceland · Israel · Italy · Kazakhstan · Latvia · Liechtenstein · Lithuania · Luxembourg · Malta · Moldova · Montenegro · Netherlands · Northern Ireland · Norway · Poland · Portugal · Republic of Ireland · Republic of Macedonia · Romania · Russia · San Marino · Scotland · Serbia · Slovakia · Slovenia · Spain · Sweden · Switzerland · Turkey · Ukraine · Wales ·

I think we can put to bed this myth about the level of Scotlands national league.

He could command his box better still, but if you watch him recently he is doing better. Become a lot more vocal and making great strides.

The real point is who are the better options in England? You have Hart, Butland, Ruddy, Foster, Robinson, Fielding, Stockdale, Carson to name but a few. Take Hart out of the equation and Forster is as good as most of them with a lot more potential.

Tash you remind of an old sparring buddy I used to have on the old 606 - zeTom. He too, thought he knew it all, and made sure everyone knew it. But with comments like that - that Elliot is a better prospect than Forster - leads me to believe that you're just bluffing your way through it all...

Why is everyone overlooking the far worse pick of Shawcross over our very own Saylor?

To be slightly fair, Saylor is injured. Then again, even fit I don't think he would've been called up... They've always ignored players from Newcastle , the only one that's really been called up was Mandy.

You couldn't pick Saylor at present. He can't stay fit. If he could, I have no doubt they'd consider him straight away. Shawcross is decent for me.

zeTom1 was a god amongst us mere mortals, steady your tongue.

Well done to Forster, if he stayed with us he'd have played about ten games over the last two seasons so this completely justifies his move.

Importantly it shows the Scottish league is not being ignored, will Celtic's Hooper be proven right when he said he doesn't need to leave if he wants to be called up?
