John Margetts with the only goal

two names I didnt recognise in the squad: Richard Brindley, and I presume that Michael Stewart is the ex-manu fella?

You were right about Stewart, his last club being Charlton n 2011, and Brindley has this year been released from Norwich's youth squad.

Yeah both Trialists, Michael Stewart was at Hearts a couple of years back and was pretty decent. Not sure what he's like now though.

Liam Cooper had a blinder according to reports of the game. Someone on twiiter last night who had been at the game said that IF that does not get him a game for City on saturday nothing will.

If Steve Bruce does not use Liam Cooper on saturday then he should fully expect some harsh comments from fans.

Michael Stewart, a 31 year old that played 9 games in League One in early 2011 and didn't play at all in the 2011/12 season.

Seems a bit odd, surely we can't be looking to sign him?

I doubt it, he is probably looking to get match fit so he can find a club at a lower level. I wouldn't have thought he could cut it in the Championship anymore, but in his earlier days he was a brilliant passer of the ball. He was probably given a trial when we were looking for a new central midfielder, but now we have Quinn and Oli back in the side, there's no need for him to be here anymore. Maybe they just want to win the Reserve League....

no but i reckon its a contractual thing. i also get the feeling that this reserve squad is being used moreso as a development squad this season in order to improve the chances of bringing a few kids through, rather than a simple burden which has to be fulfilled each season
