Last night was a truly memorable night in the history of Glasgow Celtic. First Scottish team to win three away matches in a row. In fac it is very rare when ever any EPL team manages three European away wins in a row. Celtic had one of their most famous results in Europe for many years. If Celtic continue this impressive form then disaster will hit Celtic Park. Quite suddenly Celtic will no longer be a Scottish or an Irish club or even an amalgamation of both but will suddenly be regarded in media circles as British. This must not be allowed or tolerated at any price.
Celtic are a British club though. No matter how much you wish they weren't Super ya loony. Last time I checked Celtic were a football team based out of Glasgow. Glasgow as far as I'm aware is a city situated in Scotland. Scotland is country which is part of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is largely made up of the island of Britain. Logically Celtic are therefore a "British Team" Ah, I see where I made a mistake. I used logic.
Aye but look at all those humans who were born in Ireland but claim to be British rather than Irish, does the actual place where you were established, and live, and play your football actually constitute your nationality? Anyway the problems of success - FF has been called up to England, we get to punt him now for £20m+ since that's the going rate for mediocre English Internationals
I think I know where he is coming from, when Andy Murray plays well he's British and when he gets beat he's that Scottish bloke again. I reckon that's the comparison he's making
No matter how much some people want it to be true, football teams are not living breathing entities. For some fans their club is literally their best pal/long-term partner/wife Good on big Lurch getting a call-up. He's got no hope of playing in either game if Hart is fit but it proves folk like me, who doubted his ability when he first arrived, entirely wrong. Most improved player in the last two years at Celtic IMO.
Would be nice to see Lurch and Hooper get a chance in their next friendly. Also, anyone hear the Commons interview on the bbc after the moscow game? Didnae hold back when asked why he wasn't in the Scotland squad did he?
I thought Commons was honest and fairly magnanimous about it as well. That pish Levein said about 7 players ahead of Commons is typical of the guy. Instead of just saying something like "I felt we needed a different option to Kris" he basically runs him down and says he's no good enough for his team. A team that couldn't beat Macedonia at Hampden.
As we've got 7 better players in Common's position, we must be a stick-on for qualification. <strengthindepth>
Thanks Tioga, at least you have a brain, sometimes I feel I am wasting my time posting. A successful Scottish person or team is always called British. I remember Celtic been the first British team to win the European Cup and the next year Manchester Utd were not the second, they were the first English team. When the draw was made this year for the Champions League Celtic were hardly mentioned. Some people here are too busy trying to be smart and anti Irish to understand what is happening. Thanks again Tioga River!
God's teeth. This is the reason I drift in and out of this site. The trolls are boring to read. If you aren't entertaining others trolling becomes too quickly the sign of a deranged loner.
