To be fair to GHoddle10 I think that he's getting a bit of stick and that's resulting in him hardening and exaggerating his opinion to simply include more and more superlatives rather than look like he's backing down. To start with he was saying that the team did well, great result, who'd have thought Defoe would be OK as a lone striker, why criticize AVB? Nothing wrong with that per se. But as he's met opposition (some of it pretty rude and obviously with some history) he's backed himself into a corner and just amped up his assessments. I'm sure that, in a more sober moment, he'd not say that if we play like we did in the second half at OT we'll win the league. Surely.
I stand by all that I say, and think that people criticising AVB's tactics are completely wrong and devaluing an historic victory, something that I refuse to do. BTW Lennypops I've probably missed some of the rude comments, as quite a few people in this thread are on my ignore list, as you say, there's some history to this debate
would'nt touch him with yours Spurs desciple, yes D/L won 1-0,first win of the season, six draws, three defeats.
Oh look, did the Greeks lay siege to us like they did to Troy, no. So another wrong analysis by the AVB tactics doubters.
I'm saying that contrary to some people who are seeing teams lay siege to us game after game in the second half, since we got our act together after the first three games which were very disappointing, and I was very much critical of AVB then, we've had SIX games and only ONCE have had a second half siege, v Utd, which was totally to be expected.
O h look, no siege again and for the umpteenth, umpteenth, umpteenth, umpteenth, umpteenth, umpteenth time we didn't let a lead slip. Are you watching Mr Jiggins, we're now 5th.
I was going to comment on the seriously disturbed poster above, but I really can't be bothered...!!..
