You played some nice stuff at times but you have already got a reputation for cynical play everyone who has played you so far mention it on their forums... Shame I used to have a lot of respect for dyche and his Watford side this lot... Nope see you New Year's Day as for the hard element of fans... They were just funny givin it large just amused me to be honest
Palace Huddersfield and Birmingham fans so granted not every team you have played but add Charlton to it and that's 4
- probably, and even they were quick to praise FF's ability whilst being a little scathing regarding his diving.
Anyway I'm sure you ain't bothered winning is what matters you have won two on the spin so it's working and that's the bottom line we both move on
Is it sheer coincidence that we won all four of those games? Nothing at all to do with disgruntled opposition fans who couldn't accept being defeated?
Probably..what did we do against Birmingham that was so wrong or Palace? No-one dived for anything at least..sure FF did but that is one player (not the whole team) I think the Charlton fans are just frustrated they couldn't beat a fairly average defensive side with only 10 men on the night despite having lots of the ball. If anything they played worse in the 2nd half with lots of long balls rather than the passing game they had in the 1st.
So can you ask your Palace mates and Birmingham fans who dived or cheated against them...because we don't remember anyone doing it at the time and no-one complained. Both said we were the better side and deserved to win. Loads of opposition fans complained about our style when Dyche was manager - too defensive/long ball! Again after we beat them ofcourse. Don't worry...all fans do it including our own.
What does "a reputation for cynical play" actually mean? Nobody likes to be beaten by a team made of has-beens or wannabes, funded by an unfair and unhealthy level of loanees, with a history of "over-performing", hoofball tactics, managed by a used-to-be big name footballer. Sour grapes are to be expected.
Morning all.... I have just watched the charlton highlights...... and remembered that at Hudds , Forestieri slipped several times on and off the ball and not inthe box either.... we were talking about how they had sprinklered the pitch just before the start... and thought that may have contributed to it.... Makes sense then what Zola said about his boots. We also had an unlucky booking go against us there... and the Hudds fans were quick to appeal and boo at every turn.... I guess because they were losing... I have no issue with Hudds living close by and having friends who support them....
Highlights here; http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,26947_8136725,00.html The 'dive' is a tough one to call as it looks like he may have just lost his footing, but then if the crowd is on the player's and ref's back, there's a chance the ref will react to it the way he did. It doesn't seem to be an 'obvious' dive, although I may say that as a Watford fan wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, while Charlton will obviously be calling for his head! If he is diving, he certainly won't be lasting very long at the club - which will be a shame as he looks a talent, but suspect he will get targeted now he has a 'reputation'! Apparently TalkSport have been commenting on our new Deeney song - which they are quoting as being 'stamp on your head' ratehr than 'hates the police', as someone mentioned earlier. This is another thing that hopefully won't continue, and whichever song it is, Deeney could come out saying this should stop! And as for MT's trying to say how other fans are complaining about our style of play... very unusual comment, and would like to see quotes on that! I've seen 3 games this season so far and seen none of that! It has been commented on the last 2 games (against the same player), even if Grayson did say it was a penalty against Huddersfield. I guess losing at home to 'little old Watford' is just hard to take!
there was a small section of fans that sang "he'll stamp on your head" Kev...totally shameful imho...
The Birmingham game was on Sky - I don't remember any comments about any of our players diving and early in their game against Barnsley, the commentator referred to them being as poor as they were against us.
Can't say I saw FF's first booking Tuesday night but having watched the Sky highlights I think there is very little to defend regarding his, erm, slip. I reckon Mike Dean got it right. I think we can be pretty sure GZ has read the riot act out - let's hope so - behind closed doors as these things should be done. Still, it does not seem to matter what we do people, be they third rate journo's or opposition fans/managers/players, just cannot get over being beaten by Little Old Watford whether it be long ball, physical play, a gazillion loanees, slipping over or - as it is coming together - GZ getting the side to play some pretty nifty football. Frankly my dears, I don't give a damn! COYH!!!
Ok fair enough, H - it was the first time I'd heard it. Very shameful and hopefully it will stop! Need to put a stop to that nonsense early!
agreed, there's been a big hoohaa on twitter about it...the Watford Observer ran a pole about what should be done by the club about it...hopefully they'll nip it in the bud
