Ah. So, in the UK, if one has to walk down the street smashing all the windows, wouldn't there be a trial for breaking the law and another one for damages from the owners of the properties that were damaged? One could argue that his conduct did not rise to the level of criminality but are you suggesting because there was a criminal trial the FA should have ignored it? What would that have done to their Kick Racism out of Football campaign?
Some people just like to go to against the grain, to be arkward. Diouf has proved to be a great signing and a right one. What happens on the pitch is all that matters. He's also proved to be a great man around the club and in the dressing room.
Cleared but doesn't mean you were innocent, just that you might have got away with it or had enough money to hire a good defence team. Was OJ Simpson innocent when he was found not guilty?
To people who choose to be powerless, opinionless and voiceless, yes it is. Yet you of all people are none of those things. So it seems a strange argument to be using.
It appears to me that LIW's opinion is that Diouf is doing what matters on the pitch and to not have him as a Leeds United player because of his past misdemeanours would have a detrimental effect on the team. If perhaps by powerless you mean he can't do anything about who Warnock chooses to sign/play/make captain then in the big scheme of things I guess we all are to some extent. The very reason Diouf is actually playing for us is a direct result of Bates' tightfistedness. Warnock shouldn't have been reduced to taking a chance on the scumbag in the first place, but he was and I admire him for doing so. We needed a player of his type. It would've been so easy for Colin to take the easy option and just played Rogers.
I judge a player on what he does on the pitch, what he does elsewhere, I couldnt give a **** about. And douif has been brillant on and off the pitch.
That's your opinion, other people think it does matter what he's like off the pitch (and I'm not talking about this **** about him being great in the dressing room, tell that to the team-mate he threatened to stab), why is this so hard for you to understand?
Probably the same reason you don't see 90-95% of the fans love him,been great for the club.A few angel's like yourself that's never made a mistake in life will always criticize him no matter what.have you ever met him or do you base you hatred on media and hearsay.
I understand some people only care about what happens on the pitch, that's not what bothers me, it's when people try to play down what he has done to make themselves feel better. Everyone makes mistakes, Diouf's history goes way beyond that (and btw official police records don't count as "hearsay").
I've threatened to stab people. It's common parlance where I come from. Doesn't mean I'd carry it out - more likely to wound myself. What did the other player do to elicit this response? I remember from my college days that an Algerian pal of mine had to be held down as he was going to 'stab me to death'. He was the gentlest guy in the world, btw, & a good pal. He meant it too. My crime? I called him a ****. He eventually calmed down when several people explained the flippancy and non-serious intention of my remark. Because of this, I'd like to hear the other side.
But then Diouf has also hit his wife and glassed someone in a nightclub. The point anyway isn't whether he was going to do it or not, it's the fact he was sold (so they clearly decided he was at fault) by Sunderland for threatening to stab Anton Ferdinand yet suddenly people have decided he's been brilliant everywhere he's gone. Very true, but it's the repeat offences that really tell the story. No-one is regularly arrested for no reason. Take many of his offences on their own and you could excuse them as making a mistake, but the frequency with which these things have happened shows it's an issue with his character. Once again, if it doesn't bother you then fine, that's your opinion and I respect it, but don't make excuses for him just because he plays for us.
he starts with a clean slate for me,sometimes the difference between a lifelong criminal and a piller of the community is not getting caught.Sure if he ****s up his past should be taken into account but some grow up and turn a corner.
If I thought that was the case I'd be OK with it, but he glassed someone in a club in March of this year.
Funnily enough I think the kind of person who plays for our great club and who our young fans look up and aspire to matters.
All that matters is if they can put the little round white thing in the back of the big rectangular white thing or stop whoever they are playing against from doing it. It is football not a primary school. Parents are supposed to role models for kids, no one else
