Morning Gents (I believe every poster on this board is male) Not a comment on the game last night as I missed most of the commentary whilst playing 5 a side. On the phone in afterwards there was a guy from lowestoft phoned in who has a son who needs to use a wheelchair. They are STH's and sit in the area near the players tunnel. He phoned in to say that recently Clegg and another senior Town offical (no name given) had stood in front of them during matches. When challanged by the guy (would you mind moving, we cant see through you - comments) they refused to moved and it took a steward to force them out of the line of vision. Its also happened on more than one occasion. Radio Suffolk are looking into it and are trying to make contact with the club. Its not a horrendous crime but obviously has had a real impact on these people involved. The guy was talking about never going back to PR. There are much bigger issues involving this club but to me it summed up that lack of club spirit for which we were once known. Its ignorant and arrogant and totally out of place. You may expect it from us ruffian supporters but the CEO and other club employees should know better.
I wouldn't be surprised tbh, he comes across as an arrogant ****. Unfortunately there seems to be a situation within the club that he can't be touched and is immune from criticism. My betting would be he will deny it, followed be a PR photo oppotunity with him smiling smugly beside the people in question.
Sheepshanks may have got us into the mess, but I think we had alot of bad luck, the timing of our relegation couldn't have been worse!! The thing about Sheepshanks was he was one of us and he never hid after making some unpopular decisions, he always showed his face and behaved very well, he never (despite his) background had that arrogance which Clegg appears to have (a bit like the current cabinet MP's)!!!
I'd welcome Sheepshanks back to Portman Road with open arms - he was one of the fans (almost) and made some bad decisions but atleast to the fans he was 'accessible' and added to the family atmosphere of the club back then
Sheepshanks was unlucky with the collapse of ITV digital (was that the correct name?) which promised clubs millions and then realised that they could afford it which coincided with a number of other factors and knocked us out. Away from his business knowhow, which may be debatable, he was a great figurehead and spokesman for the club and I would welcome him back with open arms. At least he cared, would tell you what the club was planning and would interact with fans.
He made mistakes (Finidi George anyone), had some bad luck with ITV and so on but he had a genuine love for the club and he would never act like a massive twat to a disabled supporter.
I'd welcome any ****er instead of that **** Clegg, The next time the evening star do a chat i will be asking the question about it, then hopefully they will plaster it across their papers and force the issue on him.
If Sheepshanks cares so much about us then where the **** is he now! I'm sorry but once you look beyond all his undoubted qualities of PR the stark fact is that he left this club without a pot to piss in! He did very nicely out of the Evans takeover and he didn't volunteer to take a pay cut when 100s of local businesses had to accept 5p in the pound when we went into administration! He presided over the most shameful period in our history from being a prudent and well respected business to one that screwed its suppliers over! Sorry guys but I don't have much time for this wolf in Sheeps clothing!
