Yeah, I noticed, mate. In fact, I was going to edit one of my reply posts to acknowledge it but forgot. <doh>

Edit: N.B. Everton are fighting to make history this season. Not since 1937 have Everton finished higher than liverpool in two consecutive seasons! Tough season, psychologically.

I really don't think I am. There's a tide in the events of man and i believe that United are now caught in an ebb-tide.

But how many times have we thought this? I thought the same last season, and the fu.kers very nearly won it. They just keep confounding all nay-sayers. It's really unnerving and quite spooky <yikes>

No worries, RHC. It's worldwidewords. Here's the 'earl doors' phrase:

PS Have to agree with Gerrez on United. No doubt they're not the force they were but they've got the team to finish at the very least in the top 3 (and I, personally, think they'll be runner-up again this year).

  9. Absolutely! <laugh>

Would you rather see Man Utd win the league or Germany win the World Cup...?

Can you not just give us your money instead? Theres more chance of us giving it you back than United finishing outside the top 3 never mind top 5 <laugh>

Anyway as things stand Everton have to be favourites. Dont forget Liverpool have won 1 game against arguably the worst team in the league. Return to this thread in early January and you will have a better picture.

Not that I don't think Everton deserve a good season, but they are a threadbare squad, and it will only take an injury or two to really knock them. Maybe I'm being too optomistic, and is Shogun had asked this before Norwich, I may have dithered, but as it is....

I notice that it is mainly the manc scum that have voted for Everton. Obsessing about us again, so unhealthy.

Just like Old Trafford, UIR doesn't even know where his board is, and cannot point to it on a map...

I agree that Everton are looking strong this season, but the weight of evidence is against them. The most likely scenarios are that Liverpool finish above Everton, and that Man Utd finish in the top four easily. I'm not saying it's massively unlikely that the opposite occurs, but it is unlikely. The safe money goes with what I've stated. Anything else suggests some sort of emotional bias, for or against.

Well the Laws of Probability are on our side. Keep saying it and one day we'll be right <ok>

In the shorter term just look at the 'soft' indicators that the times are changing:

Pundits said last season "United have a winning mentality built into them" - they didn't

With an 8 point lead people said "the Titles over" - it wasn't

When Ferguson spoke that football world listened - now it's laughing (diving and time)

United supporters said they had a strong defence with total cover - they don't

    United's midfield is still porous

They got away with a geriatric leading their midfield last season it's doubtful that he can do it for another complete season.

Ferguson can't make up his mind on his No 1 goalkeeper.

All the little bits and pieces lead me to believe more strongly that the tide is now set firmly against United. I'm not prediciting imminent collapse but I do see similarities in attitude, culture etc between us at the end of our peak and United now.

Trouble with discussing this is the the 'avenging angels' will now destroy the thread - oh well!

You have to factor in we have a new manager trying to instill his methods into the team and the fact hes promoted youth players to the first team squad/team, still work in progress for us but stability and business as usual over the park.

cannot speak for everyone but I'd prefer number 2 providing it didn't mean relegation. it would be devastating to lose the league title narrowly to your neighbours.

I'd say your squad was more threadbare than ours mate, we aren't being forced to play 17/18 year olds.
