Again, I think you are probably right about the result not helping our current plight but I do think it was a good result in the circumstances (if you know what I mean). I assume that you think that PJ will keep taking us down and that your concern is that any change might be too late? You could well be right but until Clegg and Co not only find a better man for the job but also open up the old purse, I have to say we should stick with PJ.
Cant agree with you at all spanish. Help our current plight - better than a defeat, and a draw against the table toppers can only be good for confidence Posh Catching us up - well ok, but as i have already said, we cant control other results Stay of execution - the axe is already set, Whether or not the November ultimatum was true or not we dont know but im sure ME will base his decision on league position not single results, after all Magilton was sacked after beating Norwich.
I totally agree that there is a problem further up the chain. Clegg is the most ineffective, out of touch, out of his depth CEO ever. (In fact we shouldn't really be using the title "CEO" so loosely here). Preferably for me, clegg out before pj. However, I have lost faith in pj on a football basis as he has not corrected the long term probs we have and he doesn't seem to be able to get the best out of, what looks on paper, a good (but small) squad. I don't think we can flirt with the real danger of relegation as that would be disastrous for the club, and hence I think we do need a change of manager (and coach) ASAP.
I have no idea what's going on in the background of course but I suspect that PJ cannot correct the long term issues now as he is not bgeing supported. He made a complete pig's ear of spending money last season and, perhaps, the club don't trust him with any more. Mind you, if that was the case, they should just get shot of him.
As much as I'd love PJ to be fired, I think the truth is that the problem stems from the top. Agreed, PJ made a hash of the money he had last season, which probably didn't help his budget this year. But, how are we supposed to build a challenging squad with such a small budget, wage structure and still cut costs? It's not possible. PJ has had his hands tied behind his back, but he made his bed. Also, as many do agree, Clegg is useless. I do think he just sees this club as a business. Which, in hindsight, is good. But not if you are ruining a big club, its history, its pride and its loyal fan base. He see's the £££ signs, and that's that.
Thats my problem with the current set up Midlander. Paul Jewell may well be finding himself out of work in the near future but the fact that alot of our fans are expecting our club to be making major improvements whilst not seeming to care that our wage bill is now £1m a month LESS than it was 3 seasons ago. We should be doing better than we are and so there is no excuse for PJ but then it makes we wonder about some fans (not on here) when they honestly think we are going to get a manager of Redknapps calibre on our current budget. A reality check and a statement from the ME empire is required very soon.
Supposing that "Just Ipswich" is a genuine fan I would just like to ask him why he thinks we will progress with Jewell in charge? We were extremely lucky to hold on to a point against Barnsley and yet Peterboro the only team below us got a comfortable win at Barnsley last night! So what does this say about our current situation? I would also like him to answer if he is happy that Jewell has now overseen a team that have failed to score more than 1 goal in a game for the 17th league game out of the last 19!?! I look forward to your positive spin!
Dont think he's any Town regular. Guru suggested an ****** connection and Im sure one of the Norwich fans is based in that area. Ive a feeling he is either genuine (but no one can be genuine and that happy) or a total newbie.
St Clements have reported that one of their inmates has gone missing over the last couple of days....!
It's not me, my absence has generally been because I've been depressed about the situation we find ourselves in (head in the sand), I certainly could not be as positive as Just Ipswich at this moment in time!!
The world is ending... I consider PTC, Tractor Bhoy and then myself to be the most positive posters on this board (in terms of Jewell anyway) with this new guy on the scene I just don't know what is up and what is down anymore!
Like most of you I feel the time for change has come… but I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for Jewell, after all he hasn’t been the kind of money Keane was. The main reason we have been scouring the bottom of the barrel with free agent CB’s is because we can’t afford any wages. Having to let players like Norris and Leadbitter run out their contracts and leave for free, it's a farce. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s time for him to go but the problem feels like it goes up to board level with Clegg and Evans. Replacing Jewell now feels a bit like papering over the cracks. Not sure how well anyone else (who we could actually afford to get in as a manager) would do. Still on a positive note I thought we would get are arses handed to us last night.
