Just as he was turning in good performances with the U21s Grygera has suffered another (different thank goodness) injury and Jol has said he will delay any decision about a new contract -

    http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/fulham-fc/2012/10/02/grygera-suffers-fulham-setback-82029-31948579/

This explains his absence from the U21 side v Liverpool yesteday and the inclusion of Grimmer as a makeshift centre half (Dan Burn of course just having been put out on loan). It does raise a wee question as to the whereabouts of Senderos.

It’s a shame I thought he looked good when he started last season. With Riether at right back I’m not sure if Grygera would get in the starting 11. I’ve never seen him play centre back but have a feeling he would be a ropey as Senderos so may still be able to do a job for us, even if it was a cover. I hope he does recover he’s been out for a long time

He played there against Chelsea last season and was superb.

He's been playing CB for the U21s Bidley, and that's presumably the position Jol wanted him to cover - (Jol) when asked why he was going for the the new midfielder said he only had "Chris Baird if Hangeland got injured".

Better news about Dejagah, Frei and Richardson on the website that they are all close to match fitness.
    So some more midfield competition.
Shame about a new injury to Grygera, I wonder what Fulham will do about his contract, will they
have had him insured if he was not under contract ?

Unfortunately not for Sunday though. No word on Baird either although Sidwell has apparently fully recovered from his bout of flu.

A few seasons ago? Wasn't it just last year? I agree that it's a great shame. He looked like he was going to be a really useful signing for us.

You're right Captain he signed in the summer of 2011... just checked on Wiki.

Seemed longer ago than to me...

I remember thinking he looked very solid when he came in at right back. Even if he had recovered I doubt he would have got in the side ahead of Reither but he would have given us another option at centre back.

Very sad news, he looked quality before his injury. All the best Gryggers.

Yeah, absolutely rotten bad luck. I remember how it happened - a pure accident and there's just nothing anybody can do to legislate against that.

All credit to the Club for standing by him and very best wishes to him. Wish he had been around these last few weeks though.

He'll always be a cult hero for me, for some reason. Hope to see him in the stands at CC!
