I see....so talking about tactics that might work is pointless, but waiting on a man in the clouds to save us isnt? :)

We get something at West Brom and all this will be forgotten ... We have a great side forming ... stick with it. at 12 minutes last night Granero's effort forgotten by most had a world class build up to it and if being a big word but if ... I believe it would have pushed for goal of the month!

Indeed......as I said we have a very good squad and have the potential to be a great side, no question.

Hughes just isnt laying them out correctly and/or selcecting the right players in the right positions.

If/when that changes these threads will dissapear into the digital depths of the Not606 Web Server's Storage Array and our memories and we can all cheer at winning the Champions League! ;)

Just a little play on the word "pointless" frank, but yes I think God would be a better man manager.:emoticon-0105-wink:

We need to score more goals than our oppo's if we have a back line shot to bits with injuries, can't see it happening with this squad.

The summer should have been the time to fix the defence not buy 2 GK's and half the worlds supply of midfielders. But thats just me I'm one of those "you fans!" types.

In truth yesterday I felt angry towards the manager. Today I'm having second thoughts about TF, dont forget which wet spam he wanted to buy. Can't help thinking that had it been against southampton I think he would be slightly more annoyed.

    The Journey continues.

I think I'd go with this too Bob at West Brom. I'd look at replacing Zamora with Cisse pretty early if Zamora is too static / slow as I thought he was last night. Cisse came closest to scoring, is much quicker, was more fluid, all over the park from LB to RW, and seemed to link up better with Adel, Diakite and Hoillet when they came on. But it's Zamora who has scored our goals so I'd start with him again.

Yes yes yes but we all know SWP and Park will feature as SWP obviously has grimy compromising photos of Hughes and Park is a shirt seller par exellence so pretending Hughes will drop them both is rather hopeful

I think he'll drop SWP for definite. Park will start as he's captain fantastic.

I don't see why SWP is in the squad let alone on the pitch when Hoilett does a much much better job, and we must build around AT as he seems the only one who makes anything happen. I love Diakite but his favourite colour has to change from Red to any other colour available. Mbia looks good but would like to see him in front of the back four. Park/Diakite, Grenaro and Faurlin as a midfield three. AT behind BZ, and that's it.

Of the 2 SWP is much the better for me. He is at least still very quick, and cannot be ignored by the opposition. Park could have come on, shaken hands, told his mates which direction to play in and walked off again for all the difference he is making to us, or our opponents at present.

A few people are grasping the wrong concept of the 4-2-3-1. It shouldn't be that, it should be a 4-3-3 like the way Swansea played last season.

Cesar in goal, pretty much a given.

Full backs Bosingwa and Fabio play very high up, pushing forward whenever possible pushing the oppositions midfield deeper.

Centre backs of Ferdinand and Nelsen, playing wide and being an option for the ball whenever Cesar or centre mids have the ball.

Mbia as the holding midfielder, dropping into the middle of defence when we lose the ball, but screening that backline, playing in line with Fabio and Bosingwa almost.

Two centre midfielders of Granero as the playmaker, and in my opinion Park as the workhorse next to him being the box-to-box player who keeps it well. He could easily be substituted for Faurlin or Diakite.

Hoilett as one wide midfielder playing as an out an out winger, attacking the full backs whenever possible, and when we lose the ball he drops back in line with Granero and Park. Taarabt on the other wing with a license to roam inside, almost playing as a free role, but must defend when we lose the ball and get back in position.

Bobby Zamora as the centre forward holding the ball up, getting into the box and poaching and bringing others into play, being a complete forward like he was for Fulham in the Europa league.

So essentially, the system would look like this:

    -----------------Cesar--------------------
    ------Nelsen----------------Ferdinand-----
    Bosingwa--------M'Bia----------------Fabio
    ----------Park----------Granero-----------
    Taarabt-----------------------------Hoilett
    --------------Zamora----------------------

I think that formation could work fine too Elnino. But as to the players, I wouldn't have Park in there in front of either Ale or Diakite myself. I'd also choose Hill or probably M'bia (with Diakite filling the CDM role) before Ferdinand. Traore at his best before Favio. I think Adel is probably best central or on the left side, he seems to move to the left side most anyway, so I think I'd have him left and Hoillet right. Cisse would be a very strong competitor to Zamora or Hoillet.

Absolutely spot on article. However I would tweak the formations like this:
    Home:
    ----------------------------Cesar-----------------------
    Bosingwa--------------Nelsen-----Ferdinand--------Fabio
    ----------------------------B'Bia------------------------
    ---------------Granero--------------Faurlin--------------
    Hoilett---------------------Zamora---------------Taarabt
    Away:
    --------------------------Cesar-------------------------
    Bosingwa------------Nelsen-----Ferdinand----------Fabio
    --------------------B'Bia--------Faurlin-----------------
    Park/Hoillet---------------Granero----------------Taarabt
    ------------------------Zamora-------------------------

Swap Park for Cisse and you have it spot on.

Thats exactly what Id do but with a couple of exceptions.

    Home
    --------------------------Cesar-------------------------
    Bosingwa------------Nelsen-----Mbia----------Fabio
    --------------------Diakite--------Faurlin-----------------
    Park--------------------Granero----------------Taarabt
    ------------------------Zamora-------------------------

    Away
    ----------------------------Cesar-----------------------
    Bosingwa--------------Nelsen-----Mbia--------Fabio
    ----------------------------Diakite------------------------
    Park-----------Granero--------------Faurlin--------Hoilett
    ---------------------------Zamora---------------

I just swapped Dikaite in and think you have the home and away mixed up. 4231 at home and a 4141 away that can be changed to a 4411.

What game did you watch? Cisse got their Keeper to make his best save of the night save of the night just tipping his shot over. He tested the keeper on at least 2 other occasions I remember. Cisse gave hammers problems running and shooting at them, even though he's not at his best yet. Zamora headed way over once. Park Blank.

I like this idea, we are short of decent defenders so pack out the midfield particularly with Diakite or Mbia as DCM. relies on everyone working though and at times last night I thought to many were wandering back slowly. i know people slate him but Mackies work rate up and down the right would be favourable ahead of Park or SWP
