it's a bit harsh blaming gambaccini for someone else's failings, and if all he had were suspicions and rumours, it doesn't bring anything to the legal case.

Don't think you can be quite so assertive on this ... if the bloke has done nothing wrong then I hope he gets completely exonnerated and his memory is therefore untarnished (rather difficult when such allegations are made ).. but if he is guilty of any of it; it would also be wrong not to expose him for what he really was.. even if he is dead now. The phrase is 'Rest In Peace' but I think you need to have earned that. So I think the most that you can say is that allegations that he was a ***** are, as yet, unproven FACT ... if you reaaly must (use FACT that is) ..
though i can't think there is anything worst to be wrongly accused of , the Glitter comments alone leave me with no sympathy to the defamation of character his friends/lawyers would claim for . Those who were adults back then , in the know , must more than hang thier heads in shame !
The way this has been put out in the press now that he isn't here to defend himself is wrong. Whether he was a ***** or not, when somebody's dead, it should be left and not brought to the Public eye.

Not sure how many watched the 'expose' last night? - but if you did then IMHO I think that it was pretty damning - hard to conceive that so many people would 'collude' on such a scale .. they also played the audio recording of the comments he made about Gary Glitter (which OLM reproduced on this thread) ... a case of attempting to defend the undefendable.. Strangely, I felt more saddened than angry by the end ... I'd hoped there really were some 'just good guys' in this world ... there goes another illusion .. oh well.
I was convinced yesterday morning, when some other women came forward to support those who'd come forward for the programme and were interviewed on 5 Live. Coincidentally, I was actually listening to them while driving past Fosse Park, where I popped into the Hilton for lunch(they know to change in there, £14.20 for a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Daylight bloody robbery).
I watched it Flossy. I didn't like the way the programme was edited - it came across as a witch hunt. The insertion of photos of JS at every opportunity to attempt to emphasise what a strange and bad man was appalling. There was very little mention (other than by the QC interviewed) that the programme was completely one-sided as JS is not able to respond to the allegations, and no interviews were given by anybody who may have been able to refute the allegations. All of the incidents took place 40 odd years ago, and people's recollections do fade over time. That said, the investigation did tend to show a modus operandii - it would seem coincidental that unconnected women reported almost exactly the same manner of how the alleged abuse took place.
