How many of Liverpools wins were by more than one goal? How many of Uniteds wins were in the designated 90 minutes? Same amount. I don't know why it matters. However.......... How many times have United come back to beat a team in the final when 3-0 down at half time?
C'mon guys, I think everyone has been pretty well behaved. You use bitterness as a counter to some good points made, and yes swarbs you said Hernandez is one of the bst in the world. if you wish to counter someones point, rather than saying bitterness and deciding not to answer the post I can only assume I was correct, Bayern, lucky win any day of the week, Chelsea, thank Terry for that one, am I wrong here, did I say united didnt deserve to go through or that they have not been the best team in each tie they have progressed from, no, what I was saying is swarbs got way ahead of himself evaluating some united players and plainly just wrong with others, calling Rooney one of the best in the world after his performance last night, one word for him, pedestrain with the odd good performance story of his whole career really. Please remember folks those of not United supporters would like to see a thrilling contest one way or the other and that was not the result of Uniteds last 6 games in the CL, i only watch lfc and MU in the CL and I want to at least watch good games beit lfc or moo and I think I should not be denied that as should any other fan not be denied good entertainment Schalke were a complete joke how is that bitterness, united never dominated europe how is that botterneess, to state a fact in what was reviously mentioned above, in all the years of fergie's dominance in the top flight of english football, he is just a small footnote in european terms and that kills him no doubt, for all of him prowess he failed tyo make UNited a team that can be talked about in the same vein as those who have dominated europe in the past. Bitterness lmao, it's football forum posting and obviously the less of a life you have the more it means ot you, I care not of wums ect, and bitterness, after the city and Barca games respectively leave me with the distinct feeling it is arsenal and united fans that provide a home for bitterness to reside, stones glass houses And poaching a dying art, nope defending is getting better leaving no sace for poachers, you cant call all of his goals poached and a fair few were against sleeping oposition and CBs that hadnt a clue where he was but should have, Marseille is a good exmaple, more credit should go to the player that finds him there and you didnt say all that either swarbs, I said what players could be considered to belong to best layers in the world and you said Nani rooney evra Hernandez, you are having a laugh
I disagree that poaching is a dying art. However goal-scoring is about movement and space. And a lot of credit has to go to the players that do create that space.Well after all it is a team game. However,When defenders cotton onto you,you have to adapt yourself for that. Will Hernandez have it as easy next season. It all depends on him and how he progresses.I personally don't think that he'll have much trouble,as he's a young lad thats willing to learn.Thats a good sign in itself.
It doesn't matter - that's my point. BBF's argument about United being lucky all the time conveniently ignores that almost no team has ever won the EC/CL without a fair bit of luck and scraping a few wins here and there. Even Ajax at the peak of their total football dominance had to grind out a few 1-0s and ride their luck at times. Ultimately all that matters is that you win it, although obviously the manner of how you win some finals, like Istanbul 05, is still a great achievement in its own right. I was talking about the number of people essentially making the same point, about needing to win it five times before being recognised by UEFA. Ok, if you want me to counter your points: In 1978 Club Brugge were as bad as Schalke last night. Didn't they create two chances in the entire match, one of which was from a Liverpool error? How is that a stiff test? In 1981, when Alan Kennedy was asked about his goal against Real Madrid he said "the whole thing was down to luck". The goalkeeper dived out of the way for pete's sake! In 1984 your opening goal came when the Roma goalkeeper dropped a cross, his own defender kicked the ball at his head, and the rebound fell right at Phil Neal's feet. In contrast, in 2008 Chelsea's goal came from a double deflected long shot that dropped right at Lampard's feet exactly at the point VDS lost his footing (in the same penalty area Terry later slipped). Other than their goal, Chelsea did not test VDS once for the entire match. Compare that to Cech, who made four saves, as well as two goal line clearances from Terry. And Liverpool fans say we have a short memory If it matters so much to you, why did you post such a massive essay in response to my one line comment? A fair few of Ian Rush's goals were against defenders who had fallen asleep or from goalkeeping errors, but that doesn't stop him being one of the best ever goal poachers. Ultimately you've got to get yourself in the right place at the right time and keep your head, regardless of what the defence does. And once again, if you don't care about forum posting, why are you constantly bringing up what I think of Utd players? No one else cares!
Swarbs. Firstly I think you own BBF on this one. Ian Rush didn't score goals because defenders ''fell asleep''.He scored because he due to being given the space by his team-mates, hassled defenders into making mistakes. All goal-scorers do it not just poachers. As I said goal-scoring is about movement and space. Its also as you said being in the right place at the right time.Look at Dirk Kuyts 3 goals against United, all scored from combined 7 yards.Does it matter?
We had the which is easier format argument and again you tried to compare games from decades ago to make an unproveable point, old news we've had this already, its a forum not a time machine we cant go back in time. I admit I was a little disgusted at the way Schalke played, I was all ready for a good game, same for the Chelsea tie. Saying that it was a better than the game tonight, after that I would rather see moo play Barca because if there is one thing baconface doesnt do it's park the bus. Moo Barca fnial by the look of it, probably the best outcome as I honestly wouldn't care if it were Schalke and Barca, I now at least have an interest ftlog I am not saying Hernan isn't going to be this or that in a couple of years, he has been very good at times but all I was saying, and not a criticism, was that he hasn't found it too difficult and the service has been very good to him and that he has scored different types and it is as I have said before too early to say he's anything, I say this because of a particular player I won't mention that went from possibly being one of the best to a lethargic sulker. didn't compare him to anyone saying he is bad or good, my disagreement was with your premature estimation of him and I made some mildly inflammatory Uniteds European achievement comments Hernandez has a long long way to go before he is an Ian Rush. Again with the owning KPR Re posting. Constantly? I am getting at the fact that I am not trying to somehow offend UNited supporters, this is the LFC board I thought, though re "Caring" I brought it up because it was a discussion between you and I in a post a few days ago or was it this one?, a point that slightly alters that perspective I think Not like I trawl your posts looking for inconsistencies, in fact have you not been known for going into old posts?
