Remember Nick Holmes scoring something similar from almost the half way line at the Dell in the late 70's. Can't remember who against though.

Well done for courage. Not many would have put serious money on it.

I wonder what the policeman who rushed McIlroy to the course thinks now. If he's a true sportsman, he'll still be glad he did it. He will be talking about it for the rest of his life now.

Who thinks he would have a better chance if his name was spelt correctly? I rate Briggsy too, dunno why isn't picked more often, is it a Hampshire being unfashionable thing?

Poulter and Rose were the real heroes in a very brave dozen.

They yell this after every tee shot on the PGA tour, or pretty much any shot nowadays really. Whatever humor it may have once had was lost 10 years ago. You wait for the quietest moment and yell "Get in the hole!" so that way everyone hears you and it gets picked up on TV and you tell all your friends you were the "Get in the hole" guy on hole 14. The typical use is to wait for the exact instant the golfer strikes a tee shot, and then yell it out really fast before everyone else in the gallery starts clapping.

Once in every 10,000 tee shots someone will actually yell something clever or amusing but 9,950 times it's "Get in the hole!" with the other 49 times being the once-favored but now since superceded "You Da Man!"

95% of people think this is stupid and annoying and the other 5% think it's hilarious *because* it's stupid and annoying. Those 5% are also typically drunk.

It's the same as yelling "Freebird!" at a concert although perhaps that analogy makes no sense to you as hopefully people over there have enough intelligence and class not to do that, either.

The guy that tried to put Poulter off by shouting "get wet" as he went to swing, I would like to invite him to the local cemetery and shout at him "get in the hole"!

In relation to my previous post about often wanting to strike up with conversation with people but not having the balls to do so. Today I finally stroked up conversation with a girl at work who turned out to be a Southampton fan (and a season ticket holder) which is what I thought as I overheard her in the bus a few weeks back talking about Southampton's defeat to City so I wanted to ask if she was, just because I was curious.

Until I mentioned I supported Portsmouth? Nah, she said (obviously not seriously) "We shouldn't be talking then!" and I replied "True, but then I don't buy into all that nonsense"

I hope you mentioned your keen interest in the Pompey Ladies football team's progress, Laps!
    That might turn her head.

Yeah it went okay, didn't talk for long as the bus was quite full. Might talk to her again if I see her again possibly. Although don't get me wrong, I'm not seeing this as a romantic possibility, not sure if that's what you're suggesting or not. For one thing, I automatically assume someone is in a relationship unless I hear otherwise. Less disappointment that way! Though talking of relationships, that McDonald's advert is quite amusing, a guy eating a McFlurry or whatever blurting out to a girl "What do you say about being more than friends?" As if anyone would actually do that in real life..... <doh>

Talking of which, got another like on our Facebook page. We're up to 2 likes now! <party>
