Ok so I've changed my mind about him. Didn't think he was good enough anymore football wise, and with his antics in the past I thought he'd be more hassle than he's worth. So far he's proved me wrong on and off the pitch, and lets face it we'd have zero flair without him. Most footballers are tossers anyway. Ps Simon21's sig 'Warnock and Diouf Out' still pisses me off, think he just says what he thinks Jerel wants to hear, and is so far up his arse he's unable or unwilling to speak for himself or change his views.
That's not true. Me and him have disagreed on numerous occasions. He can think for himself, it's just that his mental process and mine overwhelmingly tend to simultaneously head towards the direction of truth. ...and that sexy beast Jerel Ifil's too.
Diouf is also proof, in a football world of ridiculously inflated wages and transfer fees, there are still the odd gem to be picked up especially on the wrong side of thirty. Well done Warnock on nicking him. Cant help but think Warnock has a great way of selling a club to a player
Diouf is a quality player at this level, something we all seem to agree on. We've been suffering in the lower divisions for around about 10 years now, and i'll take anyone on to help us achieve promotion as long as they're a worker. Yeah Diouf has been a knob throughout his career but I don't give a **** to be honest. How many footballers nowadays can call themselves role models anyway? Not many that I know off. Whilst his record is clean in a Leeds shirt I will support him. Face it football is unfortunately full of greedy, cocky, self righteous pansies, but at the end of the day its Football. I'll always watch it, regardless of who participates in it. Let bygones be bygones.
Football fans will always be fickle. I seem to recall the vast majority of you saying Tonge would be awful when he signed? I wonder how many of you think he's turned out half decent? I'm just willing to give people a chance, sometimes a player flourishes under a certain manager or at a particular club.
I can think for myself. Are you all just trying to say what each other wants to hear because you all agree on this one point? I agree with Jerel/Exodus on many things, that just happens to be the way of things, you might remember I noted my disgust while Jerel was away from the board for a while. There's a difference between a player performing better than expected and this situation. Diouf hasn't suddenly become a better person, yet many of us have suddenly decided we don't actually care (noting of course those like yourself who still hold the same opinion, even if I disagree with it) because he's playing quite well.
Simon, if Diouf was taking a last minute penalty to win us the play off final would you be willing him to score? Or hoping he'd miss because you'd find winning promotion in such a way, by such a despicable human being too intolerable? Will him to score and you would be a hypocrite, will him to miss and you wouldn't be a proper supporter.
I found my excuses pretty quickly , and way before he actually played for us Mainly because of the vitriol of most of the posters on here, like Jerel/Exodus and Simon-21, who brought up the stuff he was said to have done and then I looked it all up and it was just, well, hypocritical ****e to claim a bloke who had done a few things 8 years ago was still the same now
I would will him to score because my love of Leeds United comes first, I don't find that hypocritical at all. I don't want him to play for Leeds, but for as long as he does I hope he contributes as best as he can and tries to behave himself. It's like having a murderer living next door, I'd hope he moved away as soon as possible, but while he lived there it would be quite nice if he was a good neighbour and didn't, you know, kill me. (obviously I understand they're wildly different situations, it was just the first relatively comparable analogy I thought of) He was found guilty of 3 separate driving offences in 2010 and the fight in a club was this year, you always forget when I say this. If his personality doesn't bother you then fine, but don't make it out like he's changed.
