Absolutely disgusting that it wasn't given, Such a clear cut pen that if it had been any other club, any other player that it would have been no doubt a pen. Ref had a fairly good game but should be embarrassed he let his prejudice get in the way of giving a correct decision.
Wow - brilliant performance from the lads. The youngsters have not only looked the part but they have added to the team. Suso and Sterling have provided us with more technique, higher pressing, intelligence in the midfield. Wisdom gives us another 'footballer' in defence - pace and power, with the ability to hold the ball and pass efficiently. Luis Suarez - what a way to respond to critics. Didn't sulk when he didn't get the penalty, and picked himself up after he missed that sitter. Nuri Sahin - we knew the lad was quality when he first came and now he's reaching top level. This could be the signing of the summer as we were lacking that creative spark in central midfield. What a player and I seriously hope he stays.
I was surprised how far forward Sahin got so often on Saturday. It was good to see both him and Gerrard supporting Suarez and giving us more attacking options He's a gem of a player so if he's only here for a season let's just enjoy him. Totally agree about Suarez too. If he can show that much focus every week and cut out the moaning we'll all be better off for it. Mind you I think we'll be facing a much tougher and more organised defence next week. All 11 of them.
We have players getting into the box! I love it! I've been critical of Gerrard but another good performance from him which is great to see. As you say, we will face tougher opposition but the central midfield is starting to click - keeping the ball and creating chances. Dominating games and scoring goals. We've got some nice fixtures coming up and hopefully we can extend our winning run! Stoke will be tricky but if we can get that early goal, it will set us up. Plus, we now have players like Sahin and Suso who can play that incisive pass and unlock defences.
