This topic always seems to raise itself, nearly every weekend there is a contentious decision and teams and it seems now some players are being given or denied penalties based on their reputations.

The obvious one is Suarez. As much as hated player he is, he just can't seem to get a penalty. The foul against him during Norwich was as blatant a penalty as you'll ever see, but it wasn't given.

Also in the Utd game. A team who usually are given so many dodgy penalties. Nani, another one who is known for the theatrics, was denied a clear pen after Vertonghen pulled him to the ground by the collar of his shirt.

Now I'm not usually one to complain to see Utd denied a penalty seeing as they are given so many soft ones, but the inconsistency in referring is beginning look like bias and that is not healthy for the game.

I have no sympathy for Suarez, purely because he's won far too many that shouldn't have been awarded. One was even against us, last season.

Nani was already "falling" to the ground, Vertonghen held onto his shirt, the sole reason Nani went down, was because he chose to, not because there was any force.

In the premier league players believe they have the right to go down, as long as a player from the opposition has touched them, now that is cheating, diving, its pathetic.

I remember in the game yesterday bale was near the corner flag and giggs was practically touching the guy up, yanking his shirt, pulling him, pushing him, what happens? no foul, but we get a corner.

If a spurs player was doing what giggs was doing, and that utd player went to the floor in the box on his own accord, everyone would be saying it was a stone wall pen.

If you live by the dive you die by it. I do feel there is a subconscious xenophobia amongst referees when it comes to penalties but that's life. Sheffield Wednesday had a stonewaller not given against Wolves in the Championship.

I can remember for years players being able to kick the living **** out of Drogba and get away with it purely because of his past reputation for going down to easily.

A prime example of that is this:

Evans kicks Drogba who later suffers from broken ribs and trouble breathing, yet it's Drogba who inexplicably gets booked with Evans not getting any punishment, nor any retrospective ban.

That was a shocking tackle from Evans.

Think Drogba fakes the convulsions though...?

Suarez has NEVER dived. Ever. Hes often assaulted by oxygen, nitrogen and other elements that make up air <ok>

Wasn't my question. How many penalties has he been given which the original post states - is many.

Cant be arsed to go through all his dives or legit appeals for a penalty.

Fact is the lad brought his reputation on. When Young did it last season everyone was on his back, Nani who hasnt dived in ages really still has a reputation. Ronaldo did, Drogba etc... these players brought it on themselves. Most 50/50 calls that the ref cannot be sure are going to go the defenders way more often than not once they get a rep.

One that sticks in my memory for Suarez was v Arsenal.

Mate you're missing my point again. How many has he been awarded since he's been with us? I'm not stating he hasn't dived, or hasn't been given them due to his reputation.

My point is i'm reponding to the post above which states he has had loads awarded - which is simply not true.

But rugbys a **** game and football doesnt need ever decision checking just incase.

For those where the ref has no idea then yes but if the ref feels hes got it right then no we dont need tech. Human error has been a part of the game for 150 years, its part of what makes it football.

As pointed out on our board by Ruff, half these decisions have always happened but the ****s at Sky make so much of a big deal out of everything we ( the collective football world ) find ourselves moaning about everything.

Never happened before to this extent and we didnt have tech then nor did we have Sky.

Also it starts with tech, then we get time outs, then we change decisions after the full time whistle, have 1/4's instead of halfs <laugh>

Final point...........what would it really achieve, we've been going over the decisions from the Liverpool - United game for ages and theres enough on both sides to have a legit argument. Tech would of solved nothing, probably made it worse.

You honestly expect me to look back through every game from the past two seasons in which Suarez has won a penalty? It's not something that I pay enough attention to, to be able to remember every incident.

This is deeper than just an issue of winning penalties. It's his identical behaviour outside of the box which plays a part in this as well. Suarez is the boy who cried wolf, and I think it's disgusting that he and his colleagues think he should be treated as a professional whilst he disrespects his peers.

What? You think it's just his diving in the box which has given him this reputation?
