Sorry if I didn't quite grasp your original point. I suppose, taking this further, any genuine claims would make some very old BBC executives culpable for burying crimes which would result in prosecution if sufficient evidence exists. On the other hand, there would also be grounds for slander based lawsuits if not backed with proof. Neither has happened so there's likely to be a load of word of mouth stuff. If claims had been originally made at a time when Sir Jim was at the peak of his career then why didn't the police get involved at the behest of the claimant at that time? This program has a lot to answer to before it even airs!
There is a bigger age gap between myself and the missus (18 and 1/2 years), than said teacher and pupil. The teacher should have been strong willed enough to say "NO". It is very wrong, but if the pupil started this, then his punishment should be less than if he started it. Feel sorry for his wife and her parents.
