A reasonable person wouldn't talk in certainties about the top 4 so early in the season so perhaps you're one of them.
Thats a fair comment too, but if you are looking over 38 games then a team that has finished top 4 in 2 of the last three seasons is probably in with a chance this year too, Arsenals top 4 credentials are impeccable, that cannot be denied, and I will be surprised if they are not top 4 this year too, but with a competitive top 8 from last season + Fulham and West Brom punching above their weight we may have a more competitive league this year than ever before, and getting back to the original thread Everton are certaianly looking good and this could be their year to give a top 4 push a real go, but if you asked me today I would be boring and state that Chelsea, Arsenal and the 2 Manchesters will be the top 4, with Spurs, Everton, Newcastle and Liverpool occupying the next 4 places though not necessarily in those orders.
I'm well aware of that. If you really want to labour the point though, you had also finished in the top 4 a lot, then you didn't. You can't draw conclusions about what will happen in the future based on the past. It's also far too early to draw conclusions this season, remember how well Chelsea started two years back?
Ok, the likes of Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool are going to over throw Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester...
We've been top 4 for 15 seasons running, so why would you begrudge some people for thinking it's a certainty that we will end there again when we have done it 15 seasons in a row? And not only have we ended in the top 4, we've ended in the top with some piss poor teams as well, and just look at last season, you arguably had your best side in a while, while we were sitting in 17th at this point last season, and yet, by February, when we were 10 points behind you, we still managed to end in the top 4, and above you. We ain't Spurs my friend, where top 4 isn't a certainty, we're the Arsenal my friend, we've made top 4 our home. ;-).
No but it gives you a better idea of what will happen and whats more likely to happen. And I wasn't disputing that it's too early to be drawing conclusions, all I was saying was that a 1 off game is much different to form over the whole season.
Seems like what you wish to happen is getting confused with what may happen goons. I don't know what the point is in finishing 4th or above for Arsenal...every season they are in it to make up the numbers....and your board don't spend the money they make from it like you all want to see. Wasted place.
Well, we wouldn't expect fans from our inferior neighbours to understand what finishing consistently in the top 4 means, so your statement is entirely consistent with the Spuds affliction of 'small man syndrome'
Maybe in the past but with the group of players Arsenal now have if you take Barca and Real out the equation they do have a realistic chance of contending for it IMO
Everton have a fine balance to their team at this moment but their squad depth will let them down in the long term, well I hope it will.
