I see Jason in a 4231 midfield triangle with Granero and Faurlin - alternating with Granero in the more forward role.

Not unhappy with him on the 'wing' in a 442 where the likes of Bosingwa, da Silva or Traore are there to provide the overlap / ball crossing function.

Should he be drop-able? Of course, when necessary. Even brand-Beckham was drop-able at Real.

Could you put that out in a formation for me? Don't quite get it.

4231: Granero and Park interchanging as necessary.

    ------------------------------------Cesar-----------------------------------

    Bosingwa-------------Ferdinand--------Nelsen----------------Traore

    ----------------------Granero-----------------Faurlin---------------------

    ------Hoilett-----------------------Park--------------------Taarabt------

    ------------------------------Cisse / Zamora------------------------------

442: Don't need 4 wingers / ball crossers. Park and Hoilett (or Taarabt, SWP or Mackie) run the channels to support Zamora and Cisse.

    ------------------------------------Cesar-----------------------------------

    Bosingwa-------------Ferdinand--------Nelsen----------------Traore

    ------Park-------------Granero------------Faurlin--------Hoilett-------

    ---------------------------------------Zamora------------------------------

    ------------------------------Cisse------------------------------------------

    Any clearer?

    Yes thank you.
I like the 4-2-3-1 but I don't think Park is a holding midfielder, so I wouldn't put him back into the two.
I also think M'Bia looks a good bet as a holding midfielder. You could play him alongside Faurlin and push Grenaro into where Park is. Lots of options in that formation. Not rigid like Hughes's 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1 to an extent.
In your 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 as you've lined it up, I'd definitely play BZ as the target man (Cisse ain't no target man!!) and then I'd play Hoilett or Taarabt off Zamora.
The more I think about all the players we have, I favour a 4-3-3 which becomes 4-5-1 when we lose the ball. This gives us a midfield central 3 with a dedicated holding midfielder behind the other 2.

The main thing is, you can see the options as can I and many others on here. But MH gives me the impression of being very, very rigid in his thinking on formations/tactics etc.

Have been saying that we should drop Park for weeks. He is constantly stopping attacking moves as he hasnt go the legs to run down the wing. He cuts inside when a cross would have been the better option.

I have said that against the bigger teams and in games when we need to be a bit more cautious then he should play (thats what man u did with him) but in games against 'weaker' opposition we need more creativity for certain - like Taarabt, Hoilett, and Mackie.

He was awful against Reading in the cup: our worst player. I've not been impressed either during his other appearances but, to be fair, he's usually played out of position.

He has to be dropped sooner or later. There isn't a position for him in our formation. I cannot see how TF can deny we signed him purely for marketing purposes. 30+, well past his best, never featured regularly in the EPL and he's showing all that and more! Marquee signing my a**.

Alternatively, we could just not panic and play him in the right position. He was excellent against Chelsea and Spurs and one of the very few to come out of the Swansea game with any credit.

I am sure he will start against West Ham and give 100% what ever position he is playing
He has never been the greatest player in the world but we desperately need players who will give it everything to move us up the league
