Congrats Forest Green. Tonight top of the league after victory over the imps 3-0. Could be playing them next
Yes indeed Airbus - they're on fire. Living in Dursley, they're my local club so I've been over to the New Lawn a few times over the past couple of years. Since Dale Vince (boss of Ecotricity and Britain's richest green entrepreneur) bought them, he's invested a shedload and that money is really paying off. They used to be the Conference's perennial strugglers and only avoided relegation twice because the promoted teams' stadiums weren't up to scratch - all the new cash has made a massive difference and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they came up into the Football League for the first time ever. They're also pretty strange because they're literally a village football club - Forest Green itself is a tiny hamlet on the edge of Nailsworth, a town of just 6,000. There must be something in the air in Nailsworth because the town has also got Shortwood Utd who play in the Southern League against the likes of Mangotsfield and Yate Town. The New Lawn is a tidy little ground too. But you never know, there's still time for the Gas to turn our season around and climb up the table into the playoffs, so we might not meet them after all!
Always followed FG results, would be a great achievement if they did manage to win promotion to the football league, that goes without saying.
They are doing fantastically well; like SLSB I always look for their results. I can't see though where their potential for growth is. As Bb says, the surrounding area is not densely populated.
