Met Shane Ferguson last night in riverside, had a tiny chat with him, canny lad like and didn't think he was going to be THAT short! He's buzzing about the assist which I'm glad for him for. He's proving himself and to pardew what a deadly cross like he has can do!

Fergie showed us what he could do when he made his first team debut away at Chelsea a while ago.

A really neat little player with skill in abundance.

Hope the demon booze doesn't take him off track.

As long as he doesn't start drinking with drunkards like you and Tash, he should should be alright.

In fairness we needed him yesterday. Jonas' deliveries into the box were absolute pants

He is surely forcing his way in now. He can't do much more. Jonas is a bit out of nick. He has chopped and changed position for the sake of the team but is now starting to suffer.

Cracking little player who in my opinion should be a regular, He has an abundance of energy, skill, space and a very good crosser. I would play him in front of Santon as his energy would be great in helping out in defence when under pressure.

If we we are going to persist with 4-4-2 he should start left and Ben Arfa on the right and drop Jonas.

Our stand in captain and hardest worker? That sounds about right.

Yes I know but if wew are playing 4-4-2 there is no point if the wingers can't cross or pass.

Perhaps play him left back and Santon right back but this season I think he's been poor in his new role to say the very least.

Williamson works hard but I don't hear people demanding that he plays every game. It's just a fact that Jonas has been poor so far this season, admittedly he's not the only player but I agree if we're going 4-4-2 then we should at least have wingers who will get to the by-line and deliver a good cross.

Jonas is better in a 5 man midfield as he can work hard, keep it simple and allow the likes of Cabaye & HBA to create. In a 4-4-2 he simply hasn't offered enough going forward this season.

Just opinions guys, we all see the game through different eyes. However, apart from his own contribution I think that he gets on well with all the other players and they they play well for him.

Think calls to drop Jonas for Fergie are a bit premature.

For me, we need drop Cisse and move Jonas back out wide where he is more effective in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3.

Definitely agree this this. Just think we're all frustrated that we're yet to "take off" so far this season, although I suppose it is still early days.

Having said that with every passing game the lack of a new CB in the summer looks an even more criminal decision.

Not sure he's ready for a start but he's been a great impact sub the past 2 games. Not sure he'd have the same effect as he's had from the start yet but would like him to get a start V Bordeaux and push for a PL place.
