They're having an excellent start to the season, I know it's still early, but they could end up being a pain to our a$$, just like Newcastle last season, if Everton continue on this form, it's another team in the hat for places in the top 4.

The fact is, they're normally the best team in the league in the 2nd half of the season, it's worrying they've actually started in august rather than january.

Top 4 is going to be really unpredictable this season. Good news for the neutral, bad news for us.

I think Chelsea and Man City will definitely finish in the top 4... the other two are up for grabs.

    What? No.

Top 4 will be the usual, us, two Manchester's and Chelsea. No other teams will pose enough of a threat come the end of the season.

    Yeah I agree with that.

Cant see Spurs or Everton having enough.

They nearly capitulated against a United with no midfield or defense. Not the best of signs.

    People misread Everton's form.
They normally have a good calendar year, then a bad one, rather than seasons, bizarrely.
Do they have the squad to grind it out?
Time will tell, but the January window could be very important for them, especially if Champions League clubs need to strengthen, as their players won't be tied.

I think the Spuds, Pool and Everton are about on a par this season. They will all be battling for 5th - 7th

<laugh> we win at OT for the first time in 23 years ... not the best of signs <laugh>

Personally I think the top four will be city chelsea utd arsenal with everton spurs and toon fighting for 5th 6th and 7th...but it'll be close

They've made some brilliant signings; resigning Pienaar was a godsend, Jelavic has fully clicked with their system, Naismith a brilliant addition, Fellaini on fire and a solid defence. This year's top 8 will be very interesting!

3 out of Everton's next games are away, better to judge them after that. They will finish above Liverpool again for sure though

"the usual"? They've only finished in the top 4 together once.

We'll need to improve performance-wise but that's to be expected with a new manager that's trying to change things like AVB is.

All though I agree that I chose the wrong choice of words, I think we all know what I mean.

I still think Everton will drop off, you can see them going on an bad streak. If Everton come out of their next 4 games with 8 points then fair play.

You're only expected to finish top 4 in your opinion. I think a lot of people recognise that the top 4 battle could be very open again this season.

I think its general consensus Arsenal would expect to finish top 4, as they have done every season for the last 15

That's not how it works though. The general consensus would've been that United would've beaten us at OT yesterday based on history but I think you and many others knew we had a good chance of getting something out of the game.
