Fergie wants to win 5 before he retires, I am amazed how a team can get to th final without having a single test, this format is far too easy as proved by the terrible performances by United especially against a joke Marseille, a weak lame pathetic Chelsea and the worst CL semi team ever in Schalke. How you can make it to the final of europes elite comp without one stiff test is beyong me. European football has been in delcine for 5 years and it gets worse. My reason for the above is that Schalke could not string 3 passes together!?! They are in the semi final of the top competition in the world, and they cant pass the ball to a player 10 yards away, how many times did they just hand the ball to a united layer, that was the worst performance by a team in the CL ever! never mind a semi. This format is fast becomming a joke it really is. Is it too many games, why are teams peforming so badly now, Marseille were a joke, inter a joke Spurs a joke United a joke, against marseille as bad as they were United didn't find it that easy against such a bad team. The quality of european football has dropped significantly, and before any United fan pointds to their performance last night, I can play nice football when noone tries to tackle me or leaves me in 200 miles of pitch, that was a training match and it honestly looked like a thrown game at times. P.S. I am not suggesting even remotely that it was thrown!!

I agree with that.United should rightly have buried Schalke out of sight.It wasn't a football match.It was a training event.We all know United struggle when teams swarm all over them and exert pressure on their poor central midfield.Schalke didn't do this.There isn't a hope in hell even after this result of United winning the champions league.Barcelona like in 2009 will eat Carrick for breakfast.Look at how they struggled when Liverpool did it to them at Anfield.Lucas and Gerrard grabbed Carrick and Scholes by the throat and refused to let go.They swarmed all over them.Barcelona will do far worse.

ALso, @Swarbs, Hernandez one of the best in the world, how many times did he fail to score 1 v 1 on keeper, love it when the pudding provides proof so quickly. Real are a far bigger threat to United than Barca as good as they are, trust me. Barca can rip apart United but Jose can get results, I just don't think UNited want to face Ronaldo in the final. United cannot be counted in Europes Elite, noone rates or remembers also rans, if they'd won the two finals recently, and not lost so convincingly to Barca and got a lucky lucky win against Chelsea a lucky lucky win against Bayern too, Europes Elite have dominated the comp not scraped victories, United have never dominated the european competition ever even remotely.

Damn me, there's a whole lot of bitterness on this thread. I think Liverpool fans have been talking about the game more than the United fans have! @BBF I did not say Hernandez was world class. I said he's one of the best poachers in the world at the moment. Inzaghi, Crespo, Cole and McCoist were all quite poor all round footballers, but they were excellent at being in the right place at the right time to tap the ball in. I can't think of many players at the moment who are better at that than Hernandez, but then as Ian Rush said a few years back, goal poaching is something of a dying art. And btw: Of Liverpool's eight wins in the final of European competition, how many were won by more than one goal?
