can't see this happening but thought I'd share all the same....

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/274700/Kop-swop-Demba-Ba-for-Andy-Carroll-in-January/?

LIVERPOOL will lead the race for Demba Ba, with Newcastle ready to offload their unsettled striker in the January transfer window.

And that deal could result in another *sensational twist, as Newcastle boss Alan Pardew considers grabbing former Toon hero Andy Carroll, whose £35million move to Anfield has ended with him being shipped out on loan.

Ba, 27, signed on a free at St James’ Park from West Ham in June 2011, after invoking a release cause in his contract following the Hammers’ relegation.

And the Senegal hitman scored 17 goals in his first season with the Toon, including a hat-trick against Blackburn.

But after finishing the season on a high, Ba has been upset at being dropped to the bench in the current campaign, with the striker revealing that he’s “not been happy with some of the things that have been going on”.

His agent and advisers have been agitating for a move, too, which has left Pardew – and Newcastle in general – disillusioned with their star man.

Ba’s representatives have been demanding a bigger pay packet than his current £50,000 a week.

And it is felt on Tyneside that the club have had enough of Ba’s *posturings, especially the threats of his agent Alex Gontran.

He said: “Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Demba doesn’t understand the *management.

“If he continues to be a substitute all season we will look at other *solutions.”

And Liverpool look favourites to cash in on the uncertainty by invoking a £7.5m get-out clause in Ba’s contract.

The Reds also have an option to recall Carroll, 23, from his loan period at West Ham in January.

And Newcastle would love to discuss bringing the pony-tailed striker back to the North East.

A happy Carroll for an unhappy Ba could be a good thing.

Suppose there is a straight swap and Ba's supposedly dodgy knees finally explode. That would be amazing.

more credible reports Ba will be away.....

    http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/349199?

NEWCASTLE UNITED are ready to sell Demba Ba in the January transfer window after becoming fed up with his wage demands.
Last season’s top scorer Ba still has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for £7.5million.
The Senegalese star was offered around in the summer by his advisors, who demanded a £10,000-a-week wage increase on his £50,000-a-week earnings.
Newcastle have become disillusioned with Ba’s behaviour and are now ready to cash in.
Liverpool could try to tempt him away from Tyneside.

I think this supposed Ba problem is being massively exaggerated. It was much the same in the summer with this clause and definitely going. I'd like Carroll back at some stage. Provided Ba keeps these agents in check I hope we can keep him as he is an incredibly consistent performer. Even when not scoring last year he still played well.

God no!!!!! Unless this long ball game is long term aim in whicch case we may have well have stuck with big Sam. I don't care if he is happy as long as he keeps scoring and if we do sell him we need a better player than Andy Carroll.

I don't think Ba is that unhappy. If he is it's certainly not showing in his playing. He's also entitled to ask for a wage increase, given his contributions to the team so far outweigh any other players.

Definatley need to give him the extra wages at the moment because he really is carrying the team. Wouldn't mind seeing Andy back but not at the expense of Ba.

There's no chance. Why would he go to Liverpool from here?

There is no chance we will increase any players wages on demand as we have shown in the past. We will lose him this winter I'm 100% certain of it to be honest if the rumours are true. The fact is we have to find a striker who can work as a partneship rather than be selfish and demand to play a certain postion or I'll leave. I don't care how good he is if that's his attitude he can **** off.

Why did Carroll and Enrique go?

    Money. <ok>

Many players and their agents are all about the money and I don't consider for a second that Ba would hesitate in following Carroll and Enrique 'down' to Liverpool.
