To be fair - if you win next week then thinks looks brighter - the difference for us since before the match is amazing. Holt scored. That's a positive. But, like us, you need to sort your defense out.
Thanks for that advice. We'll start printing some money now shall we? We don't all have rich owners you know....
I'm not baiting you. We havent technically spent anything this year either - and last year was largely from players sold.
Drop the Leeds 3 in the middle for chelsea Fox and tettey Wonder what mcnasty thought of that dire one ?
We've got Chelsea away next week, then Arsenal at home. We just have to hope we either get an unexpected result or don't get cut adrift. Either way it's going to be a long season...
It was in a word calamitous. There's been many lowlights in my 45 years of watching the Canaries but today is in the top three. No guile, no style, no energy, no ideas ....... I wondered why Jackson went off (injured maybe) as he was easily our best player in the first half - not that difficult as the rest were dire ..... Surman had his worst game ever in yellow, the "Leeds three" looked out of their depth and Turner ..... this man cannot play for us unless all of our other defenders are injured for the rest of the season or in gaol - he was dreadful and how anyone can berate Ward after seeing this guy I don't know. We've been mugged here - Martin O Neill must be sniggering himself silly. Next week must see Tettey, Fox and Hoolahoops starting - Elliott Bennett and Pilks too (if he is fit) with Hoops in the hole behind Holty. Let's hope Bassong is fit if not Ryan Bennett must get the nod. One thing .... maybe it's just me, but last season and the season before the effort in the pre-game warm up looked reasonably full on - I watched the players today and apart from some jogging, a couple of sprints and some ball play that resembled a kick about on the Sunday morning playing fields the rest of the time was spent lolloping around and chatting - there just didn't seem any intensity about it and maybe that lack of effort carried on into the game .... dunno, maybe a random observation but something is wrong and needs fixing soon ... Changes next week please Mr Hughton ..
I would stress that we've had a game like this coming for a while. We regularly dominated without scoring last season and this season - this time we converted our chances. Big change in result. Anyway - Snodgrass is worth points, he looks a good signing. Thought Howson was good today. You need a sitting midfielder though.
Appreciate the praise but I have to disagree about Howson. I thought he was poor. He needed to step up today and he couldn't do it. I'm sure he has the talent but it's not surfacing enough during a game at the moment.
We've got TWO holding mids........ one on the bench today, the other ?? Think Hughton got it all wrong today, at the back R.Bennett must start i never want to see Turner again in yellow! Midfield Tettey or Fox or both should have been in, & wtf was the thinking behind taking Jackson off ? He was our most industrious attacker against both QPR & Liverpool home and was sacrificed in both ? I'll give him the benifit incase he picked up an injury, other wise ?????
I think the only time Morro & Holt should start together is if Pilks & Beno are pinging crosses in from both sides, other wise Jackson has to be in there for me!
I think you offer too much to go down. You have a great manager in Hughton, and you played some good football in places. I have to admit I was a bit amazed to see six of youy players in our half when we had the ball, even with you being the home team, it was an all out ballsey display and against poorer opposition, you will get results. If you stop being so adventurous against bigger teams, you will not suffer like you did today. Keep the faith, trust Hughton and don't let scum like Beefy spout vile rubbish, and you will do well!
Nail on the head with this, we had NO width today none at all, we just tried to crowd out the midfield, and they attacked us down the flanks, it was SO ****ING OBVIOUS. Still no proper service for Holt, but he keeps trying. Can't understand why Hoops didn't start, Howson and Johnson were anyonomous, Martin and Garrido kept leaving the wide men in acre's of space. We gave them 3 goals today, they aren't as good as the result shows. I considered leaving at half time, now that's a first, now I wish I had!! Sorry but that IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!
They had no cover from Snodgrass and Surman. How was Martin expected to cope with Sterling and Johnson? Same on the left side. So of course they were exposed. If Pilkington isn't fit we'd be better playing Wes on the left, with Bennett on the right. That said, up until the second goal, we had started to make a better fist of it. After that it was either try and get back into it or damage limitation. Certainly wasn't the latter!
I don't buy Tettey being a holding player, he's box 2 box. He played a more defensive role for Rennes but if you go back to his time in Norway, he was a very attacking player. You could see against Donny, he wants to get forward. He probably had more attempts on goal in that game than any other player we had in the pitch, and he scored.
