I thought the team showed great patience , great movement and rarely wasted a pass .
The concern i had was the lack of a burst in pace , a creeping death of passing looked nice and keeps your hands warm in the winter but once it goes wide into the corner the cross is aways cut out as the defence has never been stretched - it was too easy.
All the tippy tappy passing meant there was never any space for a player to run into .

Obvious stuff i know , and looking at it , they are playing about 90% right , just need to switch the urgency sometimes in the final 3rd.

but oh! to concede on the break like that

Because in the formation we are using the areas usually covered by the left and right backs are danger areas

That was just it, no urgency. Only Quinn bursts through. The players seemed to have it in their heads just like we did- we'll beat these easy, exhibition stuff.

We dont stretch them enough, the better teams will squeeze us more and deny any space like Leicester did last week. We've seen the positives of 3-5-2, now we are seeing the negatives as teams combat it.

Just a thought but when 3/5 at the back was popular in the late 80's and early 90's, particularly on the continent; everyone played two centre backs and a sweeper. I remember Gareth Roberts had a spell playing there quite successfully despite a definite lack of height.

Anyway, my point being that if we want to persevere with a system that seems to suit the players that we have, it might be worth trying and I would have thought it would be a perfect role for Chester with his reading of the game and timing of tackles.

Sacrifice Macca to the Winning Gods during half time in the middle of the pitch on Tuesday night?

This line up would get my vote. Seems like every player in a position that they are comfortable with and would certainly provide entertainment whilst having a solid and balanced look. Give it a try Brucie - can't be any worse than Saturday.......

The thing that baffles me most are his substitutions and how he changes things abou. Yesterday when Rosie came on we looked to be playing half a 4-4-2 on the right and 3-5-2 on the left.

We have a good team; we have a strong defence, a troublesome midfield and an attack with great goal potential. This has been put together by a decent manager who is trying to play aggressive football that should reap reward. Against Leicester we had a team that did not turn up; yesterday we had two very good players (Chester and Quinn) who gifted them a goal a-piece. The formation SB has adopted will be tested by skilful forwards, but it should hold, unless we decide to give them the ball and a clear run at our goal.

Sinclair deserved his hat-trick, but how fortunate it was; Peterborough deserved all three points as we put them on a plate for them. Poor personal skills and poor decisions will lose any game, just as they did yesterday.

My main concern is that we only scored one goal against a piss poor defence – boy, how we made them look good (unless you was actually watching!). Time to move on and make it right against Blackpool.

personally hope we give this formation another go, just maybe one or two tweeks to it..
dont like conceding goals obviously, but im still enjoying it more then the last 2 seasons...
turning up to a game thinking it could be 6-4 either way is better then expecting 0-0 every week,
our biggest problem in my opinion is lack of consistency from the likes of elmo and aluko, but if they played like they did v millwall and leeds every week we would never have got them in the first place..

Looking at the stats, it's hard to see how we couldn't have got anything from the game, but as you say, we lost badly to the worst team in the league. I really couldn't work out what formation we were playing when 2-1 down... Rosenior and Proschwitz were on by this point, but it looked like we were just playing with Faye as a one-man defence at times.

As much as a joy it is to see us attacking so much with the 3-5-2, if we don't take our chances early on, we're going to get punished by over commiting ourselves.

If it's not working, I'd possible try 4-4-2 like:

    -----------------Amos----------------
    Rosenior---Chester---Faye----Dudgeon
    Elmo---------Oli------Koren----Quinn
    -----------Aluko----Simpson--------

It'd still allow Quinn and Koren to inter-change, as well as Elmo and Aluko.

Much as I love him, he didn't change things when they weren't working either.

Its hard to change things when you are 2-0 down and desperate for a goal when you are already playing 3 at the back, if he had of changed things people would have claimed he was going more defensive. Admittedly, we were tactially undone by Leicester however, 3-5-2 had worked against Millwall a poor side, that was there for us all to see and there is no shame in expecting a similar display against a side struggling more than anyone by a long way.

We absolutely dominated on Saturday, I think we played well, going forward, Elmo had an awful game, the amount of clear chances he had to put the ball in the box and his deliveries were shocking. Just an off day for him, I do feel against a side like Blackpool though we will come undone, Korens performances at Leicester and on Saturday were lazy and effortless he went missing for the whole second half on Saturday, he would be straight out of my side and I would play 4-4-2.
