The head chef was trained by Gordon Ramsey, but it sounds like he's a bit of a Heston Blumenthal fan.

Well after speaking to him when i had my interview to run the restaurant, first thing he mentioned was the fact he was trained by Ramsey, i think he has told everyone that fact. Wanted to make the whole place about him etc....... (Didn't take it)

However i have gone and eaten there twice, lunch time menu i was pretty disappointed with, not much to it for me, and what i ate personally wasn't cooked to the standard i would of expected. However i went again one Sunday, and the menu was something special for me, numerous options, and the one i had, Roast Chicken and Mushroom pie, with chunky chips, was excellent, admittedly i am not much of an experimenter. I think my partner had cracked belly of pig, or something similar, someone can confirm that for me and loved hers to. I haven't personally been back as i haven't had chance as i am currently working in Leicester (great timing), OLM i would recommend you give it a go, lot of people won't enjoy it there, but the Sunday Lunch menu i will admit is very nice, and even if you don't like it during the week definately give the Sunday lunch menu a go.

Although technically correct, whenever he tells anyone that he neglects to mention that he was sacked by Ramsey for being a useless ****.

I was there on Wednesday, in fact in the very booth at the front of the picture, maybe not the place I would normally frequent. However they do have set menus which for two courses are around £17 or £20 if you have 3 courses and includes a complimentary glass of fizz. I would recommend the mushroom soup to start, if its on. Watch out for the Salmon it does have bones in although the 3 new potatoes come in a miniture copper pan. The sweet I had was pain perdue......what's that you ask! well basically a slice of hot eggy bread with citrus sorbet and lemon curd drops.....absolutely amazing. The ipad menu wasnt on while I was there and there were a lot of weird words to describe the dishes. There was also leg of freshly shot pheasant but, how much meat do you get on one of those! Excellent service the staff are very attentive but beware the Snickers ice cream as one of the people I was with said it tasted of matress, whatever that might be! Overall I would say it is reasonably priced if you stay off the a la carte menu and I will certainly visit again. Better to book though as even on a Wednesday night it was full.

Keith Floyd for me as well, great chef, greater food presenter and gentleman. A sad day when he passed away....Ramsey on the other hand is just a loud mouth tosser..

Had a nosey around about a month ago one Sunday late afternoon.
We asked if we could take a menu away.
They gave us some stiff pieces of paper rather than an IPad!

Floyds failings were well known, but he was also a personality and raconteur of the highest order and that sirs is a factomundo!

I was going to start a Keith Floyd thread on the anniversary of his death the other week, but I couldn't be arsed. But here's a little golden nugget...

I'm intrigued to know how your friend knows what a matress tastes like. <laugh>

I'll give it a go, probably for Sunday lunch, cheers.
