I also think SKD parries too many shots back into play. I'm judging this by last season, when I recall in several games the ball would end up coming back into the central area of the box after he made a save rather than being pushed wide or behind.
Can't afford to do that this season. You can't give PL strikers extra chances in the box. That's a one way ticket to the Championship!
I started this thread a few weeks ago and didn't expect to get a definitive response on the pitch for a while. I think the answer is "yes". I've seen him now through a couple of games and I'm very content indeed. If he carries on like he has been, I don't see any problems with the lad. His liaison with the defence isn't perfect but that's probably just a matter of needing more game time with them. One of his ways that I really do like is that he seems to stroll out to pick up high balls. No panic, just a knowledge that he'll get there, then he makes it through and gets the ball every time. Hopefully a bit more game time will reveal him to have been a real find.
Hmmm, I still can't judge him yet He's only started the one Prem game, and although he looked good, he needs to show it consistently
He looks like he has all the tools to be a great goalie...just needs game time for experience and to show he can keep learning. He's at the right club and now has the opportunity to make the position his own. Has Boruc been brought in for competition or to be our first team goalie? Have to wait and see.
No, still too early to say. All he's proven so far is that he's not totally useless. Think he'll get tested more comprehensively today, but on the evidence of one game you can only really tell if people aren't good enough. He needs to perform consistently over many games to be able to tell if he is good enough. My impression is that Boruc will be first choice before long anyway so we might not get to find out for a while.
According to Merson Gazza has made a couple of top saves in the first half and we've still conceded 3!
After todays performance, you would have to say.....YES! He played well, made some v.good saves and really couldn't do much with the goals Well young man, a right future I would predict.
Gazzaniga looks a lot more confident than Davis and more assured at coming out for corners. His distribution is top notch but I don't think any of these two goalies will play regularly in the league this season.
Agreed. First-class performance from Gazza, and I am sure if Morgan had been in front of the back four Everton would have had a more difficult time getting through.
Thought he had a fairly good game, did make some good saves, but really felt he was at fault for their second, his positioning was poor but even despite that he should have been able to save it. I only saw it a couple of times on a very poor quality and choppy stream but it looked like he should have done a lot better, I might be being harsh, will have to wait and see on MOTD.
Based on what exactly? Even if you watched the game, you can't make a judgement like that without seeing him play consistently.
Much better than Davis. Has anyone ever felt comfortable with Davis? He really is a shaky keeper who seems to make everything look difficult
I have faith in the lad and a run of games will only help him. Especially if we can garner a few victories.
