Everton v Saints match thread

Our wingers aren't giving Clyne/Richardson any support when defending, they are far too slow to close down the overlap from Everton, you know Everton are going to look for Jelavic/Fellaini in the air so that has to be the first thing you do, stop the overlap and stop the cross.

Despite the three goals Gazza is having a good game

 

3-1 down at half time and we have start slagging the team, the manager, the tactics and now each other. For goodness sake, let's just grow up a little bit and stay calm. I am extremely proud that this team is back in the Premieer League and will be behind them all the way. I had us down for a defeat today.

Against one of the best teams in the division? No.

 

We seem good on the ball (albeit without many clear cut chances), but off of it we're being stretched and all over the place.

 

I don't mind losing but I would like to see us a bit more patient and get some ball retention going.

 

I don't think we look terrible, Everton are just good. Shame we couldn't have made it 2-0

 

Sadly, Everton has just been way too good. It's not just the defense. Schneiderlin would have helped a little, but not enough.

Jelavic scores two beauties and Jay Rodriguez misses a sitter. That kind of encapsulates the difference between a legit premier league team and one that's just trying to stay up.

 

On the plus side we are still out of the relegation zone.

I'm not usually negative on here as many of the regular posters may know

 

We're still out of the relegation zone as things stand (albeit QPR and Reading each have a game in hand), and are just 45 minutes away from having four exceptionally tough games out of the way.

Fulham, West Ham, WBA, Swansea, QPR, Norwich are six of our eight opponents during October and November. They are the games we should be obviously concerning ourselves about. And even the other two games are Newcastle and Spurs at home, which maybe are both draw-able on home turf.

Today was all about just getting another tough early one out of the way. Result pretty irrelevant. (We showed last week that a thrashing doesn't leave a lasting mark on this team).

 

...it's the usual culprits though, so just smile and ignore it. Expect gomarchigin and saint kitch to join any time now too
