There seems to be some concern about our striker shortage on Saturday and I may be alone in this but, I’m excited by it.
Over the last few weeks neither Welbeck or Gyan have set me alight, not neccasseraly their fault, rushed back from injury, lack of support, we could go on but I guess you know what I mean.

We then had Sess failing to shine, Jordan going downhill fast, Muntari, well, least said the better. Then on Saturday we saw Welbeck go off quickly followed by Gyan, Sess was moved to lone striker, Jordan was given an advanced role and Muntari came on but was on the right. What followed was some of the best and most exciting football I have seen for a long time.

Sess had by far his best game and looked like he wanted to be involved in everything.
    Jordan came alive.
Muntari looked like he may be OK.
    Cattermole became a captain.
    Colback became a man.

Will we see more of the same this weekend, I hope so. What is for sure we will see something different because of our striker problem.
    I cant wait.

So then Syd, it looks like a classic 4..6..0 formation on Saturday.

3 points in the bag for us.

Syd look what happened once Judas left; Keiran got the goals against Blackpool, for some reason IMO the midfield play better with out a target man, and when this happens we do seem to get goals from this area. Do you think Brucey will give Noble ago as the only recgonised striker eith the first team? Is there any one from the Academy who could step in/up?

I expect Noble and Lynch to get the call up to the senior squad again - 2 youngsters who have been doing very well. Noble on the bench, and Lynch to start (based on Bruce's comments on SAFC.com)

    Mig

    Elmo, Onouha, Turner, Bardsley

    Muntari, Catts, Colback
    Henderson, Sess

    Lynch

bench: Carson, Ferdi, Zenden, Steed, , Riveros, Meyler, Noble

Looks good to me, give young Lynch a chance, no pressure just give him free reign and lets see what he can do. Be great if the kid got a goal in front of 40,000.

I'm with you on this one Syd: it is sometimes the enforced changes that opens doors which we never thought were there....I'm really looking forward to Saturday, despite the fact that I will once again have to go to the game without having a few pints due to being on nightdhift.

for as long as I can remember Sunderlands style has been high ball from defence for a striker to knock down, normaly a crap system but one we always resort to.

We will have one or maybe two strikers up fron on Saturday, neither who will ever win a ball in the air, thats why we saw an influx of midfielders getting into the box second half last Saturday.

What could have been a drab end of season game could now be a very exciting one.

SYD THAT SPEECH WAS BETTER THAN A CHURCHILLS, it was well rousing and brought a tear to my eye, and a stiffy if we play like that again this weekend.

Gotta say my feelings towards the games remaining keeps swinging from worry to excitement. Think we'll get goals without our first choice strikers and it will pose a lot of questions for the summer transfer window.

I just wish we would ban the keeper banging the ball up field and also not let Turner pass for more than 5 yards. Even Terry realises he cannot pass and lampard drops back to get the ball off him. We must pass the ball out from the keeper, it was ridiculous, Ming hoofing the ball towards Sess.

Have I think I read read somewhere that SB thinks Noble is an arrogant little twat and too lightweight for the EPL? Of course this could yet another piece of crap man management by SB as surely any reserve strikers should at some point in the next few games be given a run, given all others are injured?

I wouldn't mind seeing Lynch or Noble upfront, with Kieron or Hendo in an advanced attacking midfield role. It's gotta be worth a go against fulham. I reckon we should have a right go at them.

    Mig

    Bardo Onhua Turner Ferdinand

    Elmo Catts Hendo Kieron Steed

    Lynch
