First of all, well done for the kingsland north for being vocal at the home games at the moment, given us northam a break BUT please please please, when we sing oh when the saints go marching in slow, it is slow twice then the quick version!!! so frustrating for it to be going really well slowly and then for people to start clapping and banging the boards so people sing the quick version. the slow version is carried on in areas but isnt the same as when everyone doesnt sing the same! thank you and see you at walsall!
I sit in the Itchen North and i find it iritating as well. I find i have no idea as to which one to join in with.
yep very irritating - seems to be the group at the back of blocks 37 and 38. Then again, it is those same fans that are helping Kingsland North give the Northam a good run for it's money at the mo As Nigel says, "together as one" and we'll be a stronger force
Couldn't make the game Monday, but I saw that more of the Northam stand was opened up. Did this improve the atmosphere having more people in that end, known for making the noise. Looking forward to Walsall, cheeky pitch invasion if all goes well ?? We need a party atmosphere for the last game, I remember a good one when we played Southend a few years back.
LOL just clicked your message at the bottom of your page, unfortunately mate I have already beaten you to it.
Im sat in Kingsland North .... Banter between Kingsland & Northam is , however Northam has been quite quiet lately and its been the Kingsland Corner who have been getting the singing going! Why people in Kingsland cant sing the proper "OWTS" version - BAFFLES ME. Comes to something else when Spurs can manage to do it superbly!! So ..yep Kingsland SORT IT OUT! Roll on 7th May! - See you all there!
Roll on 7th of may Kingsland.... when Saints gain promotion and Walsall..... um...... yeh we will leave it at that me old mucker
Only at away games does it get sung properly. This is nothing new. At the Dell, the Milton/Archers used to sing it faster than the older boys in the Lower East/West. It is a bit sad that we as a group of fans are one of the worst at singing a song that we should have made ours and ours alone. Club could help matters a bit by having an even tempo version of the song as the teams come out onto the pitch. Not a modern version, not a jazzed up version, not a Garage version, not a crappy local wannabee pop band version, just an instrumental version at a mid-tempo.
Does anyone start it off with a "knock knock" anymore? (if you don't know what I'm on about, shame on you)
Owen who? We were singing it at Orient away - I find it gets sung more at away games. Some people think it's a bit cheesy - I love it though, especially if you let the first oooooooooooooooo go for ages.
Well it is a Football Stadium with rubbish acoustics and we aren't exactly a Welsh Male Voice Choir, but we can do better I am sure, we need someone to choreograph the songs, get Sammy the Saint to conduct it or something, just a few inebriates spluttering is no way to go.
Oh all right, Super Saint then, is he still around, haven't seen him lately. Perhaps we need a new image, a bloke with a top hat and a Union Jack perhaps?
I was in block 11 on Monday, and for some reason it sounded far better unified than usual. Agree about owts, but it the guys bashing the back panels who, um, always seem to go off too early.....
That was brilliant when we used to do it at the Dell. Another thing I miss is the old goal kick chant. You don't hear it nearly as much these days.
Do you remember a few years ago, a musician recorded football songs and said that SFC were the most in-tune singers in the country. Can't have heard the chap next to me then!
