And what he said was, not word for word but as near as makes no difference "we've all made mistakes, the manager, the players, and I include myself in that". It was more an apology than a stick the knife in, until the press got hold of it in the same way they did Brown's Caleb Folan comments ("he hasn't looked like scoring, but then we haven't given him any chances so he wouldn't" becoming "he hasn't looked like scoring.")
I have always felt that Man City half time team talk was not the whole reason we went down hill that season after such a good start, but it was the game that changed PB tactics. Browny felt we had enough points in the bank, and start to protect them, and change our approach to the games, thereafter thinking we would at least pick up enough points with the matches left, and it nearly ended up in us getting relegated that first year.

wow so many Brownie love children... he must be loving it if he's reading... which considering the size of his ego, is more than likely. The guy got us up and took us down. We'd have stayed up had he been sacked when any other manager would have. In our first season he was ok, because it was carrying on from a great promotion season where the guy was a real inspiration... but the media glow gave him a tan so dark even essex girls got envious. He made some ok signings but he possibly made the worse ones in Ghilas, Altidore, Mcshane and of course JImmy Bullard... people blame Duffen but Brown was in on it and those signings almost cost us our club. Thank **** he didn't blow our socks off with Owen and Negredo otherwise we'd have no club by now. I don't think the guy should be praised as much as he is by some. He gave us PL football but it almost came at a horrible cost and for that reason, the guy will never be a Hull city legend. Cue TWF's ****y praise of him.
You statement is flawed by you stating the Brown took us down. He didn't, he wasn't in charge when we were relegated. I for one wish he had stayed on till the end of the season. As it is we will be continually debating the would he wouldn't he have kept us up. We will never know for sure, but I'm sure it will be debated for as long as this club exists.

The point about the team talk that EVERYONE forgets is that (I'm pretty sure) we were unbeaten away from home up to that point and it was Boxing Day. That is an incredible achievement for a newly promoted team and even if we were losing 4-0 at half time and had played ****e (I was there) it wasnt the time to take it out on the players. If we had lost every game away from home then maybe it wouldve been justified. It was stupid, simple as.
In your opinion. Others, including myself will recognise what he did for this club and not let hindsight cloud their judgement, I'm sure you loved our time in the PL, you've got Brownie to thank for that! Hull City legend, simple as, he did what so many other managers failed to do.
Biggest mistake PB made! Not playing Marlon King against Arsenal at home. He was dead in form and was our best outlet up top. He then went off he rails soon after and ended up spending time at her majesties pleasure. Marlon was definitely the biggest ego/arsehole at the club but he was close to being our best player.....PB couldn't manage his own ego and that of the players at the same time....simples.
I think that Sunderland game before the Eastlands debacle was just as damaging if not more to how the 2nd half of that season turned out.
Brilliant winning goal when we beat Man City, but other than that wasn't up to much. Then again, nor were any of our other players.
He isn't for me, you can only be a legend if you leave on a high with stains on your record, him and his best pal almost broke our club by the time he'd left. That for me is a pretty big deal. I can't help but be terrified to think what would have happened had he stayed on. I'd sussed him out quite early on actually, I wanted him out after our first season even though he kept us up, I sensed what was coming, our club became a joke half way through our first season, the interviews, the quotes, the team talks, the naughty step, the cardigans... all that crap was dragging us down. Damaged had been done by the time Dowie came in. The PL times were great... for about half a season. You're so blinkered anyways there's not much point, you clearly didn't choose to respond to the point I made about worse signings we've ever made and their cost to the club. If the Brownie after a season in the PL was the same one as the relegation-avoiding season one, or the promotion season one, then sure he would be a legend but he wasn't the guy turned into a complete tit.
