We would all like a twenty goals a season striker, but if he scores one a game and does bugger all else and then we lose those games 2-1 then what is the point?

I don't think he played that badly...he does have to play with a fellow striker IMO though, isolated although he made a couple of chances for himself brilliantly, his solo break was fabulous but a terribly tame finish

Look though games again if you want them. You'll see. One I remember well was a good run and even better cross from the right hand side when he was on only a short time against chelsea think it was - was the only decent cross we put in all game. Did you watch all his games for Lazio to know he was "ineffectual"?

Goal difference will be better than if we'd lost 2-0, more bums on seats, more smiles on faces.

Especially when he breaks down 50% of our attacks by being bloody offside all the time. Its not even runs either, hes lazily stood offside all the time rather than jogging back an extra couple of yards which really gets on my nerves.

Bar Walsall which i listened to i've watched all the games this season, and can't remember him making many chances really. To suggest he's contributed more to the side than Park/SWP isn't right though.
Admittedly i didn't see any of his games Vs Lazio, but one goal in 18 speaks for itself, with most observers saying this was due to him being played out of position on the wing.

Cisse has done bugger all this season apart from score a 30 yarder. Apart from that hes done more harm than good by constantly breaking up our attacks. He has played worse than SWP so far.

No. I am saying he has contributed more to our attacking football than SWP and Park (no big compliment that I'm afraid, these 2 are contributing very little going forward, especially not Park), not to our performance defensively where Park and SWP are both much better. I have seen all our PL games this season.

How can you call Cisse ineffectual when playing for Lazio when you say you never saw him ever play there!! I goal in 18 games does not speak for itself when playing on the wing! He may have had many goal chances and been very effective for all it seems you really know about him there.

Oh yeh,I forgot we have loads of top strikers who can replace Cisse!!...Ok,hes selfish but lots of strikers are and have to be. Zamora should have started as well as Cisse!. If we are having a go,what about Mackie??..he looked awful.Ok,he works hard, but slow,no skill and not the answer up front!...

My thoughts exactly. If you are playing only 1 striker, Cisse is not your man. IHe will do a good job for us playing alongside Zamora.

Cisse is not and never will be a grafter, was Ian Rush? Robbie fowler? etc etc, the answer to that is no.Zamora is the grafter Cisse is the finisher, albeit lazy at times but we need goals.

I agree with all of this. Mackie was very disappointing last night.

I'm just regurgitating info i've heard from from other people Oslo, he wasn't a success at lazio, apparently due to the fact he was played out of position on the wing. He was given a four year contract but only played 18 games.
I don't think it's hugely controversial is it? He's a striker, that's his favoured position. He'd be the first to say he doesn't like playing there i'm sure!

We pinned back spurs in the first half due to great attacking play, are you saying our wingers SWP/Park didn't contribute to that at all? I'd imagine Park's had more shots on target than cisse in the PL this season, although i'd be interested to see the stats. I don't really see that Cisse has contributed anything to our attacking play in the league so far, he's looked very ineffectual when he's come on. Isn't it the general opinion that he's been off-form?

You have to ask the Generel his opinion mate, you and me don't agree. Cisse can play any attacking role in a front 2, 4 or 5, but is weak defending. Park can't shoot, cross, dribble past opponents, or even speed into space (like SWP), but he's a good worker, harries, and tackles back - makes him a defensive or central midfield player for me, not an offensive (sic) wide man.

Been meaning to make that same point Ozzie. Park is an industrious, ball winning, fighter. CM, not a winger. On Wednesdays evidence anyway.

But he plays better out wide, especially on the right hand side. I think we need one solid wide man and 1 attacking one so Park/Mackie/SWP on the right and Hoilett/Taarabt on the left.
