WE WERE, not our manager. he wasn't complaining on the phone to the head of refereeing!! that is completely different and he has totally indicated that his team will resort to dirty tactics if they don't get given decisions playing fairly. he hasn't worded it in a way that he is saying they will dive but that is what he is indicating, as we have all pointed out. we fans have no saying in this. he is blatantly trying to get refs to give decisions for his team. as i said elsewhere, it is nailed on that it'll work too - liverpool will get a dodgy penalty tomorrow. just to add, despite the ludicrous decisions we suffered early season last year, i'd say it evened out over the course of the season.
The thing supers, every club does it now anyway, so its a bit crazy to suggest by anybody that they will start doing it because they already are!!!!!!!!! And also if he has said this, surely it will filter down to the ref, and the ref will be on a special look out for any diving so its a bit pointless really. i suggest that if you give away a penalty tomorrow it will have to be a cast iron no complaints one to be given.
well i hope you're right guru, but from experience of these things the big clubs tend to get their way.
I just hope if what you think is going to happen doesn't, that there will be people on here admitting they were wrong.
“But the fairness we show, it seems the decisions pass us by because of it — there are so many decisions that have gone against us. We want to win, but we want to win by fair means, too. I have explained to my players I don’t want divers. Read more: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...ust-start-giving-penalties.html#ixzz27lWXj2ej Quote from rodgers, seems pretty clear to me that he doesn't want divers in his team.
The worst aspect of this is the example it gives to the players. Rodgers has in effect handed his players carte blanche to do what they can to influence the officials. That sort of cheating and gamesmanship can only be minimised by managers taking the lead in stamping it out. Instead we have Rodgers acting equally badly. I doubt if this will go down well with Liverpool's American owners. Dalglish's whingeing didn't and in appointing Rodgers they would be hoping for a lot less, not more, of the same.
Maybe he should get rid of Suarez then? Personally a lot has been made of these comments but its really nothing new. Personally I think the refs should be independent and any issue managers have with refs should be passed on to the league who the contact the refs with the concern. Rather than managers contacting them directly, therefore placing more pressure on them. More importantly it should be done in private not the media.
You expect accuracy from The Sun? I thought you were better informed than that! Or possibly, knowing your penchant for wumming, you have deliberately chosen the least accurate account, just to appease your new-found newbie chum from the "hub-cap" nickers!
he might not WANT divers, but that is what he's got and what he'll get too. guru is normally so good at reading between the lines yet for some reason can't seem to do so on this occasion. i wonder why...?
Dave, there is actually a video of him saying it in his interview, so unless they are ****ing fantastic at voice overs these words came out of his lips.
Every club has had, will have, and will continue to have somebody who will go down easily, supers take your hero grunt, are you saying the contact between Delaney and him was enough to send him crashing to the floor? Its no coincidence that diving has increased in the game since this 'slightest contact is a free kick' rule has come in.
And we all know it's impossible to edit a video don't we? I read the BBC account which was certainly different from your retelling of The Sun!
Lol I didn't want this to become a flame war. The point I was making is that these cheap point scoring with referees is underhanded and only puts pressure on the ref. which can't be good. Just don't mention the refs, it isn't hard. Rodgers is clearly only worried because Suarez is on 3 yellows and if he gets to 5 they'll have to put carragher up front.
how are you STILL banging on about that incident?! talk about a broken record, you've broken the world record!!
you're absolutely right beefy, it is underhand, and its been done to put pressure on refs to give them decisions.
Just answer the question Supers, In that incident, was the contact enough to make Holt go to ground, or did he go to ground from his own decision. All i'm trying to point out is that you boys can't take the moral high ground over everybody else.
Hi bors, I will refer to remarks made by Martinez of Wigan that have resulted in an FA charge: Inferring the referee was biased in their game against Man U. Rodgers is saying exactly the same, that referees have not been giving Liverpool "the rub of the green." He also intimates that his players should now resort to influencing referees by diving. Hope for his sake the FA don't take up Pulis' idea of giving a three match ban for diving. That would really give Rodgers something to complain about !!! I think Beefy summed up succinctly, we want referees to give fair decisions without prejudice to any team.
