As stated on the 'Fratton Faithful' site:-

"According to internet sources, Papa Bouba Diop is training with Portsmouth in a bid to return to his old club.

Now 34, the midfielder was released from West Ham at the end of last season and is currently without a club.

The Senegalese man wasn't the most popular player during his time at Pompey, mainly due to his clumsiness and his inability to score, having never found the net in 53 appearances for the club.

Of course, this could just be a rumour but given that the Pompey midfield currently lacks an enforcer, Diop could be the man to tighten things up as long as he isn't played on the right like Harry Redknapp used to."

Interesting rumour - is it true, and does anyone think he is the answer to our midfield "problems" ?

I still believe we desperately need one or two strikers, especially now we have lost Luke Rodgers for at least 3 weeks with a leg injury.

Do we need Luis Boa Morte who is now 35 ? Is he passed it as a player or does he have anything useful to offer us ?

Akos Buzsaky a 30 year old Hungarian international midfielder is also on trial at FP.

The only Hungarian I really want to see back at FP is Marko Futacs, on loan from Leicester City <ok>

If he did come back- we'd have two "tanks" in our team, along with Mustupha Dumbuya!

Although I'm with Wooperts here- we seriously need to strengthen up front. Even when we have our full front line to choose from, we still can't manage to get more than 1 goal in a full game on most occasions .. not good for a team who are leaky in defense as well ..

Let's hope Appy's got something up his sleeve! <ok>

I have just read that Birmingham City claim that Diop is on trial with them - thank God for that, as he would hardly be "full of goals" if he did rejoin us !!

Also, can't see him settling for a wage of £1,000 p.w. plus a fish & chip supper, and his bus fare home <laugh>

He currently plays in the top division- of the Trinidad and Tobago league, that is! <laugh>

He looks a decent midfeilder, with 20 international caps (Hungary) and 2 goals for his country. Decent for a midefeilder <ok>
