What I think will happen in the summer

Now there have been all sorts of articles regarding summer transfers, however these have been mainly what people want. I thought I'd do one on what I expect to happen and see what you lot think.

I think that next season we will be playing 4-4-1-1. People have been going on about how we can fit a new striker, Nolan, Ben Arfa, Barton and Gervinho into a starting line-up. Now the more I think about it; I sadly don't think we will sign Gervinho. I think we will instead go for Sow or Gameiro. This would mean we have an out and out striker with a bit of quality. I also think we will sign one more striker and this player will either be cheaper or free to add a bit of squad depth. I think we will sign a new winger to challenge with Jonas and Barton. I hope this player is Dzsudzsak (who I'd get on the back of my shirt!) however I think it will be one of Wijnaldum and Lens. I then also think, to add a bit of depth we will sign Larsson on a free. I then think we will sign a CB. I'm unsure as to who this will be, but I do hope it is someone out of Samba and Phil Jones.

So as a recap I THINK we will sign the following:

CB - Samba or Jones
Back-up MF - Larsson
Winger - Dszudzsak, Lens or Wijnaldum
Starting ST - Gameiro or Sow
Back-up ST - Freebie or cheapy, possibly Elmander

This would leave us with the following team...

If we were to sign Samba, Dzsudzsak, Sow, Larsson and Elmander it would cost around £25-30 million. I think that would be a good bit of business as long as we only sell the likes of Smith, Perch etc. and not the stars!

Sorry if this topic is exhausted, I'm just very bored!

What are your thoughts? Would you be happy with those signings?

I dont think we'll sign Samba in particular, at no point have we been linked with him and its turned into a bit of a fantasy for people on not606, made up entirely by them.

Also I'd like to see someone a bit better and younger than Elmander, who I dont rate. Other than that it would be a good summer

 

I can't think of other CB's that would be realistic and affordable, but I do think we will sign one, because otherwise we'll only have three with Prem experience, and one of them is injury prone (Saylor). I'd love Bassong back, but I think that he will go abroad and not many people seem to want him back. But he would also provide cover for LB which we need. Also I think the second striker needs to be someone on loan or a cheap player and I can't think of any. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson was linked to us for just £2m. However surely he'd cost a bit more? Otherwise he'd be a great signing

I'd be happy with sign the above players and thats our team next year.

 

I thought Padrew was interested in signing on Steven Ireland,so hes probably going to go for an out and out striker with two supporting AM's

 

Really hope we do get Samba, if Blackburn go down, which could easily happen, then I think Samba will defo leave to another prem club. Why can't it be us?

 

I think he'd have better options (perfect for Arsenal) and we arent interested anyway.

 

Aren't Arsenal going for Cahill of Bolton.

 

I hope we sign a much better CB to partner Colo. Willo is alright, but we could do better and it'll make so much difference.

 

Possibly, it was just an example, there's be a few teams after him.

 

Do you have inside information? Since Ashley has come in we havnt really been rumoured with the players we have actually signed bar HBA. e.g. Williamson, Tiote, Routledge, Xisco, Colo, Bassong etc

He's got as much chance as signing for us as much as any other CB...

 

No I dont but not once have we been linked with him and a number of other clubs have, several of which in a better position than us. He has as much chance of signing for us as anyone else, but so does every other CB in the world, doesnt mean anything.

I'm more inclined to be concerned with tying down what we have before I think about new signings. Gameiro or whatever he is called looks decent though, wouldnt mind Him up front.

 

I didnt dismiss it as impossible, just said I dont know why everyone almost expects it to happen when we have never even been linked with him. I dont even recall being linked to any CB for that matter, which implies it is not a priority.

 

I think this is because the media know we are after forwards as we are so thin on the ground, however because they have no idea who we are going for they just make up stories regarding attackers. I personally feel we will sign a CB. Who that is, is anybody's guess, could be anyone!

 

You're probably right, I wouldnt mind a CB, just not expecting us to sign a starter, might just end up replacing Campbell with another cover player.
