Benson reporting that Sergio Perez has signed for McLaren. Reasonable chance they could make Ferrari regret not picking him.

Twitter seems to be taking it as read, inc. a Telmex/Vodafone link-up. Has it been confirmed by the teams?

lol. Scarbs says he's on for a management role at Mercedes, with Alguersuari headed for Sauber. Algie's been quite firm for a while that he has a drive next season.

<laugh> But seriously i wouldn't rule out Sauber just yet. Shame that the most successful driver in history is to be forced out.

Nothing confirmed by anyone yet Genji. They all seem to be pretty certain in reporting it. No "it is understood" this time.

Mercedes are set to announce it within the hour and I guess McLaren will do the same.

Schumacher's second retirement is very different to his first, which overshadowed the Italian GP.

EDIT: McLaren have confirmed Perez for a multi-year deal.

Perez: “It's a very big step in my career, but I'm ready for it”

Schumacher may not have been given a managerial role at Mercedes after all.

I bet Di Resta and Hulk are disappointed!

Koby might ge a st of execution.

I don't know what the Perez signing says, swiped from under Ferraris nose or unwanted by Ferrari?

A multi-year deal in a top team is an offer Ferrari couldn't wholly match. Force India have already said they're keeping both drivers so I guess they were being truthful and just withdrawing themselves from the hype.

    Yeah, hopefully Kobayashi's safe.

I don't think that's been confirmed but it was certainly reported alongside the Hamilton/Perez/Schumacher moves.

Yes I think that makes sense. Looking forward to seeing Jamie in a Sauber if that's the case.

Seems to be the only seat available. The question is will he be the only new arrival?

One would assume Perez's departure would granted Kobayashi a reprieve but this IS F1.

Yep, Jaime's been itching to announce what he was doing but said he had to wait. I think this is why, no?

Maybe. I'm intrigued that Michael didn't use this as the moment to announce his retirement. You'd think if there's no chance of 2013 he'd have made that announcement. If for no other reason that to make it seem like his decision.

I can't imagine Peter Sauber can afford Schumacher's salary, but stranger things have happened.

He's tested for Caterham before, so if he can get sponsorship I'd imagine he'll end up there.
