    Reading vs Newcastle United

    Saturday 29h September 2012

    The Madejski Stadium

Well, last nights performance was encouraging and the big takeouts for me were Cisse scoring, Tav stepping up ansd the cameo of young Fergie.
Despite the result this should give us a nice boost going into reading as it's no shame to lose 2-1 at old trafford.

    Squad
The only real issue is Raylors continued absence.
It also looks as though Krul and Simmo will resume traininig this week so may figure in some way on Saturday.

    History
    2009/10 won 2-1 Nolan 2 (Ch)
    2007/08 lost 1-2 og(Duberry) (PL)
    2006/07 lost 0-1 (PL)
1999/00 drew 2-2 Coppinger, Robinson (FR)
    1989/90 drew 3-3 McGhee 2, Quinn (FAC)
    1989/90 lost 1-3 Gallacher (LC)
1956/57 won 3-2 Curry, Eastham, White (FR)
1953/54 drew 2-2 Milburn, Davies (FR)

    Betting
My picks of the betting from Paddy Power are:

    Cisse FGS & Toon win 2-1 - 30/1
    Cisse TGS & Toon win 3-1 - 66/1
    Cisse FGS & Draw win 2-2- 50/1
    Ben Arfa FGS & Toon 2-1- 45/1
    Cabaye FGS & Toon win 2-1- 75/1

    ACS's Prediction
I'm going for Toon to win 2-1 and Cisse to be FGS @ 30/1... I'll also have a cheky few quid on HBA FGS & Toon 2-1 as I just don't think Reading will be able to contain him in his current form.

    I'd start -

    Ba------Cisse------Ben Arfa

    --------Cabaye-----------

    ---Jonas----Perch/Tiote---

    Santon-Willo--Saylor--Anita

    ----------Harper------------

    I'm going for a 0-2 toon win!

I can't make my mind up if Perch should be RB or Anita... pluses and minuses on both sides but can't argue with the players picked there Tash.

The beauty is that we can switch the around to counter different threats or decide whether or not we need more pace and attacking ability on the wing, or more defensive ability.

Agree there. We've been lacking versatility in several areas over recent years so it's great to see that extra dimension being added. Also good to note Santon is equally strong on the left or right flanks.
What messes things up for some opposing sides is the ability some players have to pop up all over the pitch and not look out of place.

ermm, was there a problem in inviting Toon supporters to view the fellow-Not 606 Reading board regarding our match Saturday? I suppose there was 'cos the thread is not now viewable, but I'm not sure why (a PM wouldn't have gone amiss!), considering 85% of the info was about Newcastle and not Reading... and ultra respectful to your team and fans!

It was the fact that you advertised the other site and we are a bit wary of that type of thing on here, after earlier in the year.

This is one of the games we should be winning. Go for the jugular lads. And PLEASE, don't let Obertan on. Ferguson did more in ten minutes last night than Oberheeds done in his last ten games.

I firmly believe, if you haven't got something good to say best not to say it ...

so to positive quotes like this - Reading manager Brian McDermott speaking about Alan Pardew:

'Alan Pardew is a good friend of mine and I believe he set the identity for this club over a period of time," the Royals boss told reporters. "The tempo of the team, the passing game and work rate are second to none here and he set that trend. That's been our identity for the past 12 years. Alan was the man who set Reading on course for the Premier League. I hope he gets a good reception on Saturday, but it will be what it will be. Everyone's moved on from when he left for West Ham." Hope he's right. Remember going to watch you guys play Southampton when he was manager there and he was getting a lot of stick off the Reading fans.

How about Santon RB and Fergie LB? Would be good going forward, with Santon on his natural side and Fergie adding pace down the flank.

Then Perchinho can have a 'free role' roaming wherever he wants displaying his silking skills.

2-0 HBA and Cisse. The goal against Man Utd on Wednesday will have helped Cisse.
