Remember when Jermaine Jenas asked to leave Newcastle because it was like 'being in a goldfish bowl'? Well, his career has certainly developed after he 'escaped' us. I said at the time out of the goldfish bowl and into the toilet bowl. And now look at him, having once been on the fringes of the England team playing for a team in Europe (at the time) he is now reduced to going to a championship club on loan for a month.

I enjoy seeing ex players fall off the radar thus proving they shouldn't have left. I don't mind seeing some people go as long as it is amicable. Still really like Aaron Huges, Darren Ambrose, Speed after he left (rip) and more recnetly Best and Guthrie. But Jenas, he made out that being at Newcastle was a burden, being watched by 50,000 and being expected to perform to a reasonable standard was too much to be expected of him.

He woudln't get anywhere near the first team here now..... Bigi or Jenas?

I am over it, I don't give him a moments thought usually, just thought I'd post it since he's in the news today.
Our 5-0 win over Man U was 16 years ago, I suppose I should 'get over' that as well instead of keeping a treasured memory.

Thank you for selling Hughes. After the blip in his career at Villa, he's been a key part of a good period for Fulham. :)

Jenas joins a long line of people who followed the bright lights to Spurs and then found that reserve football doesn't help you grow as a player.

Being watched by 50,000 fans tends to spur more players on than not.

No, because beating Man Utd 5 - 0 is a once in a lifetime thing, and a good thing. It is something worth remembering.

Players being unhappy and wanting to leave happens regularly. It's not a memory worth holding on to.
It's ridiculous to judge the fact that Jenas has gone to a Championship club as some kind of retribution for the fact he wanted to leave us a long long time ago.
Looking at it another way you could see that since leaving us he managed to get into a WC squad, win a trophy, and qualify for the CL. During that time we got relegated and regularly laughed at by the media and fans of pretty much every other club. Looking at it that way, it probably was right for him to leave us.

Fair point Marv. I suffer from a very good memory and tend not to forget matches, scorers, things said etc. You must take some pleasure in seeing ex players fail though. I'd have been gutted if Carroll had been a big success at liverpool.

Yeah, I think everyone takes some pleasure in it. For me it's only for a couple seasons afterwards though usually, unless they're playing against us.

Don't get me wrong either, I think Jenas is a bit of a ****bag and a pretty crap player, and if he was playing against us then I'd definitely support any booing, but he left so long ago that I just find it impossible to hold any real kind of grudge against him for what he said back then.

I think the grudge I have is that having been a popular player, working under Sir Bobby, being very well paid ( this was time when Freddie was handing out lucrative deals) and being in a position any toon fan would kill for he showed a lot of disrespect to the fans.

A bit about sick note on NUFC.com

Sky Sports reported on Thursday that Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas had agreed a one month loan with Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Now 29, Nottingham-born Jenas began his professional career at the City Ground before joining Newcastle in 2002.

An unused substitute for Spurs at SJP on the opening day of the season, JJ hasn't played regular first team games since the 2010/11 season and saw a loan Aston Villa last November truncated due to injury.

I never liked him that much. He scored the odd goal, made the odd good pass otherwise was like a Tiote who's worst at tackling and specialises in the 5 yard back pass. Kinda like Danny Simpson in a defensive midfield role. He was naive and went to Spurs to warm their bench(maybe not even the bench) so too bad for him

Since he left I've dedicated five minutes every day to thinking bad things about him. I usually have my 'Jenas hate break' around about half 5 during the ad break of Come Dine With Me.

I am not that spiteful but I do resent Jenas... He has been overrated his entire career, I just never thought he was very good, ever. Is that his fault that he has been overrated? no...so I can't really blame him.

Good luck to him. He never really developed as expected. His struggles at Spurs played its part in that. I can understand why he didn't want to play football under Souness....................

I remember Jermaine Jenas being like a poor man's Kieron Dyer – which in footballing terms is probably as scathing and hurtful as you can be.

Over-hyped in terms of potential, given too much praise and reward too young, at times inevitably boiling over into arrogance.

Hasn't played nearly enough football in recent years and far too content not doing so...

His career serves as a good lesson for our young players like Bigi of how it can pass you by quickly so he needs to stay grounded, listen to the manager and keep working hard!
