If it's not battered, it's not a pattie, those bright orange things are fish cakes, aren't they?

Does anyone know if you can still get fritters, which used to be a slice of potato and a slice of fish put together battered and fried. I use to get them from time to time from a chippy on Hessle road close to West dock street?

I'm still to try that chippy in Greetland.

I have had a patty from my local chippy, and it was big chunks of potato with a tiny bit of fish in it. It was rank.

I think my local chippy also does fritters, but as I don't like them either I tend not to look for them whenever I go to a chippy

I haven't seen them for years, I used to get them from the old chippy in Anlaby when I was a kid.

make sure pick the right one. lower greetland almost on the crossroads where the new coop is being built. old school couple who fry from tight little shop and they sell freshly steamed suet puddings without the aid of a microwave. the one worry is that there is a poodle parlour next door. hmmmm.

Your right, they must be fishcakes. I just don't have any recollection of Bob Carver Patties, i only ever used the one on the open air Market Place, when the family had a "Toy Stall" on there when i was a teenager.

Bloody Hell, am i really that old

At the fair, Caver's only sell patties, chips and peas.

That's the only time I ever eat Carver's and it's more out of tradition than actually liking them, despite me being related, I'm not a fan, I always go to Goldenfry when I'm in Hull. Don't tell uncle Bob. :bandit:

Following on from my earlier post on my first visit to Hull I was alone and stayed with my mother-in-law. She gave me my first ever fritter which she said she loved as a kid. It was a bread and jam sandwich dipped in batter and fried. Not the best gastronomical delight but a once in a lifetime experience!

Carvers always give the option of battered or breadcrumbs.

I did use the Anlaby one that often, we lived Anlaby common so our local was at the corner of Bernadette ave, and from memory they didn't do fritters.
