If two reports are to believed our wage structure has gone down by 2/3s in the past 3 years. Jewell said against Wolves that we were working with a £6m wage bill against wolves £22m. A report I have found this morning (linkidy link - http://fcbusiness.co.uk/news/articl...town+reveal+loss+of+%A314m+in+latest+accounts ) shows that our accounts published in 2010 said our wages exceeded £17m No wonder we are lacking quality and strength in depth and I think that whoever the next manager is will have to be blinkin brilliant to make us compete at this level. Makes me feel more now than ever we need an actual statement from Evans/ Clegg on what we are actually aiming for.
I know why we are doing Mr Lancs, just didnt realise the amount of cutting we have been doing to enable us to comply with the regulations. Its nearly a £1m a month that has disappeared from the wage bill in under 3 years!
Tractorbhoy, you also have to remember that we had such superstars as David Norris and Grant Leadtwat as big earners then!
Guru, Im not so much shocked that our wage bill was so high but more that we have cut it by so much and the club has not said anything about expectation levels.
That is the crux of the issues that I (and apparently Tractor Bhoy and a lot of other fans) have, there has been no communication from the club to the fans the extent of the slashing of our wage bill and running costs Makes you wonder whether PJ slipped that into an interview to a) cover his arse from some of the flack he was getting as he has had to deal with such a savage reduction in comparison to his predecessor and b) sticks two fingers up to Evans and Clegg who clearly haven't told us this for a reason and PJ decided that if he is going to be ousted it at least clears his name a little and shows Clegg and Evans up
KOPR, that is the only reason why PJ has got the entire rage form myself, don't get me wrong i think he is a useless tool, but i just wonder if our wage bill has been slashed by that much would any manager do any good at our club?
It just shows that PJ's comments haven't answered any of our questions and only posed some more, unfortunately there are only two people in a position to answer that, one is invisible and the other spouts a lot of nonsense at sporadic intervals (generally irrelevant and confusing statements too)
I am thoroughly confused as to how you think this hasn't been communicated. Of course it has made Paul Jewell's job infinitely more difficult and has seen us miss out on players like Austin and the second Posh lad. That is why I said the other day he took over at a difficult time. But, when you look at players like McAuley and Walters heading the Fantasy Premier League points charts and Rhodes moving for a small fortune to Blackburn it's pretty clear that Town have had a top flight XI amongst the players of the last five years and so it hasn't been about money but judgement and for that heads must now roll. I don't blame Jewell but I think he's pretty limp-wristed.
ITFC = a league one club in championship clothing. Rapidly falling attendances and lack of investment will have us drop through the trap door sooner or later.
