ha-ha, funnily enough that was the match where we were most outplayed in all season, wasn't a fluke at all, they controlled it from start to finish. Mind you, look at Stevanage now, 3rd in Div 1 and looking very strong again ... by way, they've got one one best fan site forums outside top two tiers, 'Boro Chat' is incredibly active!

Probably not likely unless McDermott is going to rest someone - he's hovering just outside first 14 or 15, even scored a hattrick in friendly in Ireland earlier this month ...

diab0, what do think of Reading's chances of staying up this season
I would make them my favourites to finish bottom with their squad

Next 6 games will tell. Gets points on board and it might be lower mid-table. Do badly and it'll be fight against relegation all season. If we're bottom or thereabouts at Christmas I can see Zingarevich investing heavily ...

Yeah, but it pays for itself! Is it any wonder that every game is virtually full this season?!!

    Ref Check - Roger East

please log in to view this image

He has been one of the highest regarded championship refs recently - it's rare for his matches to include more than a couple of yellows - he lets the football flow, but will clamp down hard if it became necessary. Can't complain about that in my opinion.

Unlike many of our recent refs, this sounds actually like a good bloke. He started work sweeping the floors in the family timber firm, and has worked his way up. As a referee too he has simply worked up - he came up through the Wessex, Southern and Conference Leagues, joining the National list as an assistant in 2000. He was line assistant in the 2004 Cup Final, and in the 2006 Community Shield. He's run the line frequently in Premiership games, but in more recent years he's became the man in the middle with the whistle, which he now says he wouldn't change for anything. He wasn't even afraid to go to Tripoli, Libya to take charge of a dangerous derby match there (and shook hands with one of Gaddafi's son, receiving warm compliments for his footballing work).

Very interesting article here where it's all explained!:

His last last with us (Reading) was the Derby match in October 2011 ...

It's his first QPR appointment since the 1-0 victory against Leicester during the Championship promotion season.

I saw that Diakite said he is playing tonight.

    A gorkss interview:

-Kaspars, are you excited to be returning to one of your old clubs in QPR?

I’m really looking forward to it – it will be an emotional return. As I’ve said before, QPR was probably the first game I looked for when the fixtures came out. But now we’ve drawn them in the Capital One Cup, we’re playing them sooner than I thought!

-You spent three seasons with Rangers – how did you enjoy your time there?

I had three great years there and I’ll always remember my time there with a smile on my face. It was special to win the league with QPR but even more so with Reading. Now to get a chance to play in the top flight is fantastic.

-It’s fair to say it’s been a tricky start for Reading so far in the Premier League – what have you made of it?

We haven’t really performed well yet. We’ve had spells in games but I think overall we’re not happy with how we have started the season and we have a lot of things we can improve. The game is going to be very big for us to get the confidence back and hopefully we can win and kick on from there.

-It looks like Jimmy Kebe will return tonight from injury – what do you think he can bring to the squad?

I always have a smile on my face when someone mentions Jimmy! He’s special on and off the pitch and we love him here! It’s great to have him back – and I think Jason Roberts is pretty close to coming back from injury too. Maybe that’s exactly what we need. The one thing about cup games is that the manager can look to bring in other players and see if they can come in and improve our game.

-Should you score tonight against QPR, will you celebrate?

It’s not about celebrating or not celebrating. I have the biggest respect for QPR and they will always have a big place in my heart. First I need to score and then see how I feel!

-Do you still keep in touch with your former teammates at Loftus Road?

The other day I had a coffee with Alejandro Faurlin – I still keep in touch with him and a few others and will do for a long time.

Don't worry, I took it with a pinch of salt. Anyway, we'd have to go some way to fall less than those few points Derby got some years back! Seemed to remember Sunderland had a disaster year too ...
