ok the kiss of death I am afraid, but this Dougie Wilson looks like he could be the real deal coming through from what I have seen. For a young kid he is quite a unit and I hope has a big future. For those screaming: "Get him in the first team." Forget it. None of this 'Development Squad' are ready for first team duty yet. I hope, as it seems, that they will run the reserves as a squad unit and if they play together for a season instead of the second string being a dump for trialists and fringe players, I am sure that we have half a chance of bringing 3 or 4 through in a better way than previous.
They'll get to the fringe of the first team, and maybe even get a bench appearance or two, but remember this is Hull City, and one thing we don't do is bring through our own youth team players. If these kids had played for Man U then everyone would want them in the 11, but since they've come through our system they've got no chance. They should be sent out to Ferriby as soon as possible so they learn their future league.
maybe i am dreaming of a false dawn, but i think that if we nurture this squad together (untouched so to speak) for a full season, much as the likes of Man Utd do, then we will start to see a few more coming through. the football they played against Rotherham the other week made even Jamie Devitt look like he had a chance to make it.
